Doohicksie Posted February 20, 2020 Report Posted February 20, 2020 Oh, they still practice? Based on their last outing, I wouldn't have guessed that. 2 1 Quote
Randall Flagg Posted February 20, 2020 Report Posted February 20, 2020 A nice reminder that there's one real center on this team without Jack, and he's a 4C 1 Quote

Randall Flagg Posted February 20, 2020 Report Posted February 20, 2020 (edited) I'm pretty confident that Lazar is settling into a 13F role after a hot start with the Sabres, so I wouldn't call him a bona fide NHL center Edited February 20, 2020 by Randall Flagg Quote
Stoner Posted February 20, 2020 Report Posted February 20, 2020 Who's the mystery? Does it seem like there have been more maintenance days this year? Is this a RaKru thing? It seems smart. In my mind I've toyed around with maintenance games. Quote
triumph_communes Posted February 20, 2020 Report Posted February 20, 2020 Was about to jay, Eichel playing goalie really shows his leadership 1 Quote

Randall Flagg Posted February 20, 2020 Report Posted February 20, 2020 Wait, is it a "maintenance day" for Eichel, or is he "out but not for long term" with an injury? Quote

woods-racer Posted February 20, 2020 Report Posted February 20, 2020 I hope we can get Larry back. It's one less center to worry about and he really isn't *easily replaceable*. 1 Quote

Stoner Posted February 20, 2020 Report Posted February 20, 2020 I for one have trouble imagining a really good Sabres team in the near future without Larry on it. And only to a slighter degree, Zemgus. What a great story it would be. These are really good, useful hockey players who drew the shortest of short straws in their NHL careers. 3 1 Quote

Not telling you anything you don't already know, but the safest interpretation of the term "maintenance day" is the player got dinged in the last game and the team hopes that a day of rest will have it cleared up enough that the player can play the next game. And if the guy is over 30, could be that, or he's running on fumes and needs a short break. Quote

Fully understand that they may simply want to try their fortunes elsewhere and there may be nothing management could do except grossly overpay to get them to stay, but considering they've been a part of the disaster this team was for pretty much the whole bumpy ride and it (for about the 3rd or 4th year in a row) seems poised to finally turn the corner and they have very specific important roles on this team; REALLY want both of them back next year. (Ideally on 2 year contracts.) Quote
