Anaheim. They have some pieces that fit both Botterill's reported want (term), and what Ducks GM Bob Murray may find limiting (term), at least, according to this late Jan. article.

Here is a look at their roster:

Names of note, Kase and Rakell. I'm also very interested if ole' Bob would listen on their Goalie, John Gibson.

I wonder if we can get a mid round pick for Doug Allen.  The guy shows up, is clutch and hasn't missed a beat in 10 years.

From Josh Yohe in the Athletic interview with Jim Rutherford

One name that has emerged in numerous reports is Conor Sheary, the former Penguins forward who was traded to Buffalo two years ago. Rutherford refuses to be quoted on players who play for other teams and refused to confirm or deny the reports. However, he remains fond of the skilled forward and has mentioned multiple times over the past two seasons that Sheary was moved for salary cap reasons, not performance reasons.

It’s believed that the Penguins have a large list of forwards on their wish list and that Sheary, who is capable of playing either wing, is one of the many players on that list.

So, if Botterill trades Sheary back to the Penguins, does that make the Sabres the AHL team for the Pens? A place to stash Penguin players until they are Cap compliant for their return?

Honestly, the attachment of the Pegulas to the Penguins organization has seriously hurt the Sabres organization, imho.

It’s a typo. NHL lists the trade as Barber and Varone for the 2 Canadian AHLers.

And it's fixed now.  It was odd because they also used that same typo in the clickable link on their home page.  Apparently that's the name of a canadian tennis player.

Kase to Boston

Botts is still evaluating the roster......

So far the majority of the deals seem to be minor, moving around depth guys with a couple of deals seeing talented players being moved. Nothing huge yet, seems more Quantity over quality overall

All these names we've been throwing around here and Boston gets it. Idk much about Kase, but every day JNOT does nothing and other teams do, he's gonna get grilled.

Even if doing nothing is maybe the smartest

The only reason doing nothing would be smart is because hopefully by the end of the season he's out of work and a new GM who should have already been in place by now would have the chance to pick and choose who they want to keep and let go of.

Boston’s First is going to be maybe 10 draft slots better than the Sabres second.

The Sabres 2020 2nd and one of their gazillion defensive prospects wouldn’t have been worth saving a cap team six million?

I'm not as high on Kase as some people are around here, and I'm not really even mad we didn't trade for him. But him going to Boston is just the worst possible outcome for us because you just know it's going to work for them.
