And so did the rotary phone. So did going down to the creek to do your laundry or take a bath. Hundreds of years without any Viagra, computers, autos, etc.

Don't know, I'm not an analytics kind of person but I sometimes appreciate the info. I trust that it means a lot to some people but it doesn't do anything for me....maybe it's just the word starting with anal, just can't seem to put my finger on it.

Friedman mentioned this AM that Colin Miller’s Name has been mentioned in trade discussions

Mentioned as in other teams want him, or mentioned as in Botterill wants to move him? Duh to the former, ??? to the latter.

I think JB (rightfully so) is considering (key word) 10-12 guys currently on the roster to move. Not just Scandella, Risto, Miller, ERod, and Olofsson. Not to mention a lot of the Amerks and prospects in lower leagues. But if you don’t have a trading partner, you need to keep trying until something is fair. So I know some fans like to fantasize about JB sitting on his hands and not doing “anything”, but I’m comfortable knowing that’s not the case at all. I’m firmly in the boat of “make a fair trade when it’s there and makes the Sabres or Amerks better, and not do a trade that makes the Sabres/Amerks worse, just because fans want it”.

Mentioned as in “his name is out there”

no other context.

I would hope that many. My concern really isn't on who or how many on our roster, but who'd he be looking to bring in.

Botterill has been talking with Calgary and shocking I know, Pittsburgh about a trade per Friedman.

This probably isn't the right thread for fun random user-created trades, but I'm not sure which one is. Sorry!

Trying to fix the skill problems, with emphasis on what the toughness posters want to improve as well.

Casey Mittelstadt, prospect for Josh Anderson from Columbus
Rasmus Ristolainen, Sam Reinhart, Victor Olofsson, 2nd rounder for Matt Tkachuk, Sam Bennett
Vesey for a pick
Miller (sorry True!), Thompson, Sheary, 2nd rounder for Stastny, Reaves, Carrier

Skinner - Eichel - Bennett
Johansson - Stastny - Tkachuk
Carrier - Asplund - Anderson
Zemgus - Larry - Reaves

Dahlin - Montour
Scandella - Jokiharju
McCabe - Bogosian

Cozens moves Asplund down a line next year.

Yah I know this is silly

At this point, JBot has to absolutely move some players off the roster.  That's been the flaw since this summer:  He acquired to many players while not getting rid of enough, and now his roster is jammed up (especially with D, but he's got some of the wrong guys in the forward ranks).

It absolutely is the right place, thus "speculation" in the title.

Not silly.  I'm not sure I like it; I'm probably unnaturally attached to Reinhart, and I think trading Olofsson now would be a mistake.  Despite the drop-off from his early scoring streak, he's increasingly playing a full 200 foot game.

If you could get Anderson and either Wennberg or Jenner from Columbus I think I would!!

Anderson would be hard to say no to but Wennberg is just another soft skill player.

My one hang up on Anderson is his stats are very goal skewed which makes me question his skill in passing.

If they want Mitts for Anderson straight up I’d likely need to really think it over though.

So weird.  They just traded for him and he has term.

I thought he fit well with Dahlin at beginning of year.  Only gave up pick for him and he was insurance not knowing how long Bogo would be out, and how well Joker would be playing.

Looking longer term would you want Bogo for next year if Sabres could sign him to a contract under $3 million.

He's an asset.  When the Sabres acquired him, it didn't mean he was a part of the core from this day forward, it just means they wanted him at that time.  If he can be used to address an area of need on the forward lines.... why not?

I mean, yes, if they can make a good trade, it’s fine.

Its just strange to trade for a player, then trade him away a few months (~25 games) later.  You would think they brought him in with the intention of moving other D out.

It all depends on the ratio of risk to benefit. If moving Miller makes your team better, you make the trade and move him. In fact, any player should be moved if it benefits the team long term. Of course, this all hinges on who is coming back, but the principle holds.
