Tonight we welcome the third Johansson into the ranks of all-time Sabres players. Calle, the defenseman from the late 80s (40-some points as a rookie, then traded to Washington the next year, where he hung around for 15 years — another oopsie!), and Marcus and Jonas of today.

Three other last names join the Johanssons with at least three players represented. Name them. Hint (teeny one): they are all very common last names (in North America, anyway).

I got 2 in like 4 seconds.  Is the 3rd more prevalent in Canadia?

The last name? I don't think so.

Correct. There are four more Smiths. One of them has been discussed today on here.

The only thing I can think of is the two versions of Ramsey/Ramsay

Oh snap!  There is a Miller on the team now.  It is MIller.  Brad, Ryan, and the guy RK won't let play.

Anderson?

Ron and Shawn & ???

Those were the only Andersons. There was an Andersson. You get half a point.

Mikael?

You get a quarter point.

All I got.

There are more than those three.  Get back to work.

Also, there are a ton of pairs.  That could be fun.

Yes.

Well, there was that one game where Alexei Zhitnik played with his brother, Dennis.

Brad and Curtis Brown?

That's kind of tricky. Brad was traded to Buffalo on March 8, 2004, on the eve of the trade deadline. Curtis was traded away the next day. So... yes?

I'm a chronic underachiever, or so say my parents.

Bob and J.F. Sauve.

Brother matchups would actually be a fun one.  There are so many options there.  You now have me wondering if Marty Biron ever got a chance to play against his little brother (the little brother who was like 5 inches taller and 50 pounds heavier).

Don't forget:  Steve Patrick and James Patrick.  Was there a third?

And I'm pretty sure there were only two, but we had father Mike Foligno and son Marcus Foligno.  Too bad Nick Foligno, a pretty good player for the CBJ, isn't a Sabre.
