And interestingly, it's not where you work, it's where you reside, at least in some cases. (Maybe it's both, not sure.) But I know for some sites that I travel to, they want to keep count of the number of nights spent in the state and if it trips a threshold (30 days for Virginia I believe), then I have to pay state income taxes. I guess for athletes they have other criteria besides 30 days (as alluded to above). Quote
