Weave Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 Sounds like Jbott wants some grit in reserve. Should be NHL talent level grit tho. Quote
Slack_in_MA Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 Maybe he'll actually check somebody. Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 Can't say Botts ain't swinging for the fences. 1 3 Quote
woods-racer Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 If and it's a big IF, he gets called up, I am assuming that he replaces one of Sheary/ERod. The *letting the kids grow* part of Rochester for the first time in 10 years(?) is actually happening. They are not bringing up any future stars till they are good and ready. But, I can picture someone like Smith coming here to *balance the lines* as Krueger likes to put it. Quote
Zamboni Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 It’s not a bad move. Could be (key word) one of several moves to get to a more “significant” NHL move. Quote
inkman Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 For your viewing pleasure. Old video but some good stuff here. Quote
inkman Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 Man this dude has scrapped a lot. He obviously a fan favorite. Always mixing it up and agitating. Can play a little but I wouldn't expect much if he ever gets called up. https://www.hockeyfights.com/players/12821 Quote
Ogre Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 This is fantastic. I hope he does get called up! He’s not going to score goals but he can keep up and fire his team up in the process. He’s the super amped up dude that’s running up and down pumping everyone up when they’re waiting to hit the ice, every single intermission. And he’ll kick some ass too.I friggin love that guy. Quote
sweetlou Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 So this is Smith's third year down in Rochester. Why sign him to an NHL contract now...I think he may be called up for the sole purpose of sending a message to Cernak of Tampa that it is not ok to give Dahlin a concussion and not have to answer to it!!! I hope he is called up for tomorrow's game, would be fun to watch. No one except for Lazar, Larry and Risto ever hit and none of them are really fighters. 1 Quote

Brawndo Posted December 30, 2019 Author Report Posted December 30, 2019 He’s on the ice at the Sabres Practice this AM Quote

And if that's true, it means IMHO that RK thinks his team needs a kick in the rear. Quote

The league did not respond. Two can play that game. 2 Quote
tom webster Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 If they brought this guy up to fight their battles this team is more pathetic then I thought. It would be like naming a newcomer captain, oh wait....,, Dalton Smith will be JNOT jumping the shark. 1 Quote

This too has the cold ring of truth -- i.e. that it's a desperation move that portends the end of his tenure -- kinda like when Darcy, unable to find a decent center anywhere, drafted Grigorenko and kept him with the Sabres immediately. Plus, people bitch that the team isn’t tough enough, then also bitch when they bring up a tough guy. Talk about having your cake and eating it too. Edited December 30, 2019 by Curt 7 1 Quote
Thwomp! Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 Tampa has taken out 2 Sabres players this year, with little to no repercussions or response, and have basically treated the Sabres like they have no respect at all for them. Glad that some response appears to be taken in advance of their next meeting. Doesn't mean it will make any difference, but at least there is a possibility of some deterrent, where there was absolutely none before. 1 Quote

Considering the owners love for former face punchers, he may have had some influence here as well Quote
