GASabresIUFAN Posted December 16, 2019 Author Report Posted December 16, 2019 Arizona obviously making a splash. To much for Hall? Quote
Lanny Posted December 16, 2019 Report Posted December 16, 2019 The conditions on the 2021 pick are as follows: the third-round pick in 2021 becomes a second-round selection if Arizona wins a Stanley Cup Playoff round OR Taylor Hall re-signs in Arizona. The third-round pick in 2021 becomes a first-round selection if Arizona wins a Stanley Cup Playoff round AND Taylor Hall re-signs in Arizona. If neither condition happens, New Jersey still receives the 2021 third-round pick. https://www.nhl.com/devils/news/release-devils-acquire-picks-and-players-in-exchange-for-hall-speers/c-312664964 Quote

He had the call a 1/2 hour earlier in the Around the NHL Thread. Quote

inkman Posted December 16, 2019 Report Posted December 16, 2019 So if this were the Sabres that package would look something like: Rasmus Asplund Oskari Laukkanen (sp?) Will Borgen Plus a 1st and a conditional 3rd Yuck. 6 Quote
Huckleberry Posted December 16, 2019 Report Posted December 16, 2019 I'm with ink on this one, seems like paying a lot for a rental. Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted December 16, 2019 Author Report Posted December 16, 2019 Maybe they got good indications from Hall's agent that he'd be open to staying if things go well. 1 Quote

In the end, it’s a top 3 protected pick and Bahl for a rental that you get for more then half of a season. That’s pretty cheap if you ask me. The fact that he plays mostly left wing, there is no money coming back and Shero probable wanted him out west is reason Sabre’s wouldn’t have been on this. miles Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 i dont understand why they dont make the trade conditional on 48 hours of contract negotiations to see if they can sign multi-year deal. if they cant, the deal doesnt go through. that would (could) drive up the price Quote

Randall Flagg Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 I wouldn't have given that up for Hall. But I don't think it's an unfair deal either way. Yotes are interesting but don't have centers Quote

There was a rumor that the Bruins were close offering Vakanainen, Moore and their first rounder. I'd get something like that as they are all in now and will fall apart as that core gets closer and closer to being over the hill but the Yotes (like us) should be thinking longer term. I certainly wouldn't have done the proposed Sabres equivalent above. Quote

klos1963 Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 Coyotes needed scoring. They have 2 excellent goalies, strong defense and speed. If Hall plays up to his capabilities and Kessel gets untracked, they are a legitimate contender. It's a great deal, They didn't give up their top prospects either. Quote
