This is true but isn't the whole story - if this happened and Montreal got one point out of their 2 games in hand, we'd be out. Because right now we're 5 points behind the wild card spot already

The recent Sabres aren’t losing because of lack of effort, or even particularly bad 5-on-5 play. It’s because their special teams have been absolutely terrible.

They have the talent to change that, at least on the PP.

Wow, 5 points out already but all it takes is a win streak.  

It’s early in the season which means they need to stay in it, avoid losing streaks, have a few winning streaks.   

I just wish JBot would do something to bolster the lineup.  Does this team have any chemistry?   Year 3, looking at standings I see some improvement but watching the product on ice really I do not.  The trajectory has been downward lately and something must be done to change the direction.

They'll need to return to the 12 point in 10 game 98 point pace that many cite, and then go on an additional run of something like 4-0-1 in a 5 game span. That'd get them to 98.

But if they were to drop out of third in the division, they wouldn't be five points out of the playoffs. Am I missing something? Out of the playoffs point total = the lesser of points back of third in division/points back of final wild card team.

I was saddened to see the BN put out that article on the 5 game losing streak to Toronto, almost foreshadowing more gloom and doom fir this downtrodden team.  This team has so many losing streaks with other teams, ten years of bad management will do that.  

So, Let’s Go Sabres   No time like now to pull yourselves up and win for your fans.
