Need to see a Sabres goal? Luce against Blues, 1976

There was discussion of this goal recently, because it's one some of us had never seen. They showed it on the broadcast tonight. This is my crude attempt at creating an animated gif. Maybe someone can come along with a better version.

Each frame is actually hand drawn in charcoal, then lovingly colorized and digitized. I do what I can do.

@PASabreFan,

You really need to send this to RaKru so he can use it as a learning tool.  All of the current Sabres need to learn to shoot the puck just like Luce.

I think you're right, with the obvious caveat about how much better goalies are now. The old-timers just seemed to have more tricks in the bag. I've seen so many situations this year where a backhand was called for, but the player passed up the shot. Is the old saying about the backhand being the toughest shot for the goalie to face no longer valid? I also seem to recall Rico being brought in as shooting coach or something under Ruff.

Clinching OT goal of the 3-game series. I was there, directly above but looking down through my knees way up in the orange seats. The Aud got really loud.
