I can't believe we're three pages in and no one has mentioned Sabres greats John Scott and Nathan Paetsch.

Risto should not be moved to wing, his hidden talent in in goal! That’s right, he will be our goaltender in second half of the season so we can keep him on the ice full time. 

 

RJ has also signed a statement of intent to retire at the end of the season, but only if Risto is his replacement. On off days Risto helps solve crimes for the Buffalo police department.

Nick Delauries transitioned from D to W.  In the AHL I believe.

Wendel Clark was drafted as a D-Man and played wing in the NHL.

If I had to move someone up I would try Montour.

Well, he *has* been to The Tre'Davious White Goalie Academy of Louisiana at Buffalo (even if it was just for the Advanced Celebration Program).

Alright we should actually talk about this serious for a few minutes. Risto would be a bad winger. His passing is just okay, his wrist is mediocre, and he would have to learn brand new positioning and rotations. It would be bad. Now if you wanted to use him on the half wall during the pp, that might actually work on PP2.

I was only thinking as a stop gap at wing, only if all our d-men get healthy and aren't traded.  I could actually see him as an Andreychuk type, even if it is only on the PP.  He's a big body, better skater, hands are questionable, but just park his dumb ass in front of the net.
