I thought I had accidentally discovered the back story of this iconic Eddie Shack photo:

Alas, the moment starting at 2:25 of the video is not The Moment. Apparently that's what Shack did — he skated up behind guys and tried jump into, onto or around them.

I loved those early years.  Those teams were fun.  

 

Shack was a good player for us and trading him for Rene Robert was even better.

A lot of the early players were like that. They left home at an early age and there were few rules and less supervision. And the owners loved it. Made it easy to keep them in line before guys like Ted Lindsay and others came along.

It would have been nice to see him at Alumni functions over the past couple years. Anyone know why he wasn't around?

Nope. Not the same. Wrong place on ice. Different jersey on opponent - think that was the NorthStars in the video - not the Seals.
