Weave Posted January 18, 2020 Report Posted January 18, 2020 Just saw it. Enjoyed it. Like most Star Wars films, the end was cheesy. Quote
Ogre Posted January 18, 2020 Report Posted January 18, 2020 Anyone that’s followed the EU would have instantly recognized Rey’s staff as soon as they saw it way back in TFA as Darth Plaguies’ lightsaber.(The master of Palpatine) I assumed it was an Easter egg tossed in for the diehards. Having Rey turn out to be Palpatines’ granddaughter makes it really weird that she was left on Jakku with it, especially considering that her parents were desperate to hide her from Palpatine, who would have instantly recognized it as well(considering he most likely kept it at one point in one of his many force keyed vaults throughout the galaxy, like the one Del and Luke enter on Pillio). It’s also weird that she makes her own lightsaber from its remains(a concept used in Fallen Order with Cal’s weapon). IMO Disney would have spun a far more epic tale by making Plaguies(who was actually the one that was experimenting with extending life) the dark force behind everything that has happened throughout the entire saga with Rey being the culmination of his knowledge. She denies Plaguies his vision of the galaxy, banishing his spirit to an eternal tomb(like KOTOR) and restarts the Order to deal with the next dark soul that emerges. There’s so much great EU content that there really is no reason to reinvent the wheel. Also, involve Lucas in everything you do! The man IS Star Wars! 1 1 Quote

Never followed any of the Star Wars stuff except the movies. Thanks for the background and your thoughts on how that could've been better. ? 1 Quote
