Huckleberry Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 sheary still injured, Doubt he'll play much. Though I wouldn't mind seeing him in Sobotka's spot. 1 Quote
Zamboni Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 Good for Lazar ?? Hope he contributes on the scoresheet a little. Quote
SABRES 0311 Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 It’s like bringing a full size spare tire on a long road trip. You probably won’t use it but it’s better to be safe than sorry. 1 1 Quote
Cityo'Rasmii Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 Good on Curtis. . .methinks he'll hold his own Quote
darksabre Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 I doubt Curtis even plays a game unless someone else gets hurt. 2 Quote

He might not play, but he'd be the best fit on the Larsson line if they want to try moving Okposo up in favor of Erod who has not made the Mitts line any better - so far. Quote
Huckleberry Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 okposo and mitts is not a good fit 1 Quote
nfreeman Posted October 14, 2019 Report Posted October 14, 2019 I think they probably decided that they weren't inclined to make any changes to the lineup at this point, and thus that it would be a waste of TT's development time to call him up and not play him. They are probably less concerned about this factor with Lazar. 5 Quote
woods-racer Posted October 14, 2019 Report Posted October 14, 2019 He's a one size fits all player. Perfect for a West Coast trip. Quote

Oldhockeydad Posted October 14, 2019 Report Posted October 14, 2019 Hey - I liked Ellis. When he played, they won! Quote

Interesting. Probably not after 2 straight wins but far from impossible. Quote
Brawndo Posted October 14, 2019 Author Report Posted October 14, 2019 (edited) The team is leaving for California right after the game tomorrow and with Rochester playing in Providence yesterday and Hartford Today, maybe they wanted him in Buffalo ASAP. Edited October 14, 2019 by Brawndo Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted October 14, 2019 Report Posted October 14, 2019 We need get something out of the Mitts line. I have zero problem if RK wants to try Lazar. Quote

After seeing all the praise heaped on the Larsson line for their effectiveness and overall play, I would be surprised to see that combo broken up before their play slips. 1 Quote

PerreaultForever Posted October 14, 2019 Report Posted October 14, 2019 I get that, but Okposo also has a better shot than ERod and is more like Sheary than ERod so you might try that and see as Lazar would fit better in that spot based on his abilities and limitations. It's unlikely, but you'd have to see if the line suffered badly without Okposo or if it was still good with another body in that spot. Ideally, nothing changes as it's working now. Quote
Doohicksie Posted October 15, 2019 Report Posted October 15, 2019 I thought ERod's speed showed well against the Stars. I'd leave him right where he is for a few games. That line is starting to look good. It seemed like they were trying to take a page out of the LOG play book today: Don't worry about scoring chances, just keep the puck in the offensive zone. Eventually I think the line will mature and start popping some goals. Quote

There's been 1 line that Krueger has routinely raved about. Really don't see RK breaking that line up to try to get a line getting about 6 less minutes per game rolling. Especially when with any other player the Sabres tried with Larsson and Girgensons last year (excepting the guy who walked away) the trio couldn't come close to getting the results (primarily shutdown but even at the other end) that they got with Okposo there. If the team lost the 1st couple on this road trip could see Lazar getting time on the Mittelstadt line but can't see the Larsson line getting altered barring injury. And purely out of curiosity, in what way is Okposo more like Sheary than Rodrigues is? Quote

The idea would be to make that line better, while not making the other one significantly worse. Vesey is playing in a more defensively oriented role and ERod can't score (never has been able to) so Mitts has no one to pass to. Again, I wouldnt' tweak it just for the heck of it, but in the long run that line does have to be made better. Quote
