The gal in the video reminds me of Sloane Martin.

I really miss her and her husband (Matthew Coller) on WGR.  I know they're doing well in Minnesota, but I wish they were here.

They played outdoors in a Vegas casino parking lot back in 1991.  The ice in Dallas 8 years later was slush.  No compelling reason to believe it wouldn't still be during the summer.

But that was also at Reunion Arena. They play in a different venue now.

On June 17, 1986, at the end of the 1985-1986 season, Gilbert Perreault announced his retirement. He did not sign any official retirement papers and he didn't rule out coming back to play the following season for the Sabres.

Well the league changed the pension rules and #11 came back the following season for 20 games. He then retired for good on November 24,1986 with 512 goals and 814 assists for a total of 1326 points.

My favorite Sabre ever. A remarkable talent that would be a star in any era.

They still will need massive amounts of AC (including dehumidification far beyond what is necessary during "normal" hockey season) & refrigeration capacity.  Would be very surprised if the new barn had an overspeced & very expensive HVAC system & ice making refrigeration system to cover the possibility that someday there MIGHT be a major need for NHL quality ice in late July/ early August.  Having few, if any, fans in the barn would help.  Playing every day, and potentially multiple games in a single day, would tax the systems far more than the decreased load from no spectators.

The ice would very likely still be glorified slush.

I think Deadmonton or Calgary is going to be one of the cities....I'd go for Deadmonton as they have some of the best ice in the league.

Has Canada relaxed its 14 day quarantine upon entering the country?  If they have / will, then yes, it's extremely likely at least 1 of those 2 cities gets chosen as a hub.  If not, all of the Canadian cities that had hoped to host are out of the running.  The 14 day quarantine is a show stopper.

We haven’t, but Trudeau just hinted that there might be a way.

I heard that if they can prove they have quarantined for the 14 days prior to entering Canada, they are good to go. I'm not sure how they can prove that? If they fly here, have they been quarantined or possibly exposed on the plane?

I also heard that all involved will be tested for the virus every day and full face shields will not be mandatory.

I'm not sure that it matters but Alberta has done well fighting the virus.

They may have done well fighting it, but getting a massive influx of people from all over the globe, that’s going to be a major challenge to their system.

If everybody is quarantined and isolated though, it shouldn't matter should it? I wouldn't want it to be in Winnipeg. The city and the province has really done a good job of kicking the virus. Most of the cases showing up which is about an average of one a day maybe are travel related.

To be honest, if it were up to me, the season would be over and the Stanley Cup would not be handed out this year.

Yeah about that 24 Team playoff

There’s a reason Ralph has been harping on about “if it happens” every time the playoffs come up.

There's just no way this is going to work.

Can you imagine the gnashing of teeth if a team loses a bunch of players to testing positive before a game and it costs them a win, or a series, or the Cup?

Just cancel the season.
