This is certainly preseason hockey! It's not depressing to see preseason hockey in the preseason, it's the way of the league. The only thing depressing about today is how similar it looks to Sabres regular season hockey!

Yeah.  Pekar should not be punished simply because his parents lived in the same country that Sobotka's did.

If Cozens pans out, with his speed, perhaps he'll be the better fit at 2C, and Casey could be best suited to wing in that scenario. Depending if we want one of the 3 at 3C, I guess.

Sorry, meant long term. 

I've been resistant to Reinhart at 2C this year but maybe they'll have to try it. Doesn't seem to be in Botterill's plans though.

I mean long-term too.  If Mittlestadt and Cozens can't take the 2C opportunity away from Reinhart, why not give it to him?

It's a key point. There's no one for Mittelstadt to take that spot away from. Wasn't one his rookie year, isn't one now.

I think Mitts needs to develop. Just like it took (and taking) Reinhart years to develop. Just like it took VO. Just like it took (and taking) Ullmark. Just like it took McCabe. I’m not in the least worried about Mitts. He’ll get there.

If he was a little faster, I'd be fine with trying him at 2C again.  But with so much of his game being making nice passes on the rush and interacting with his linemates there, that really don't want to see him primarily starting rushes 30-50 ft behind them.  It will take away a lot of his value in the neutral zone & breakout.
