To be honest I'm starting to wonder if there's a spy in the Sabres front-office tipping the Hurricanes off. 2nd or 3rd time now they've seemingly jumped something we were working on.

It’s September. Botterill had plenty of time to make the move before Carolina did. 

Gardiner may not have even considered coming here though, who knows.

Gardiner said he had multiple offers with shorter term and he wasn’t interested in short term.

Add the fact that TPegs wasn’t willing to pay the bonus and make the trade on July 2nd.

Also with out cap situation even when trading Risto for the high level RFA's out there, we were never in on Gardiner.

I'm sorry but all you guys who wanted Gardiner here are simply crazy. Over rated one dimensional player with a bad back. There's a reason he stayed unsigned this long. Definitely not what I want to build around and we're a much better team if we simply keep Risto and let Kreuger fix him as the proper 3-4 D man he is supposed to be. 

I have absolutely no problem with a deep D core at the heart of our team. Especially with the suspect goaltending we have for the moment. Having 7 or 8 NHL capable D men took the Bruins pretty far.
