@Randall FlaggWhat's the fascination with Mark Scheifele? I've seen him on the top 10 Cs list a fair bit. I don't think he's as good as Jack Eichel, for one (being 4 years older not even factoring in, as I know you live in the "right now" when dealing with these types of lists.)

Jack had a higher PPG last season on a vastly inferior team, and Scheifele is not anything to write home about defensively. As for line mates, Ehlers/Reinhart was a pretty similar trade-off, and Wheeler produced about 50% more points than Skinner did.

Correct.

However, TRpm needs to be considered within the context of the team.... eg, a TRpm of 0 on a top team is much better than a TRpm of 0 on a bottom team.     I still haven't figured out how to normalize TRpm based on team performance.

Anyway, here's the bottom 10...

  1. PIT Evgeni Malkin          -31.50
  2. WPG Patrik Laine           -28.02
  3. PIT Phil Kessel            -26.49
  4. BUF Rasmus Ristolainen     -23.04
  5. VAN Erik Gudbranson        -22.21
  6. CAR Warren Foegele         -21.30
  7. SJS Justin Braun           -20.11
  8. LAK Drew Doughty           -19.81
  9. CBJ Zach Werenski          -19.25
  10. LAK Ilya Kovalchuk         -19.24

Sidney Crosby

...everyone else.

Correct.

The kid from Cole Harbour, NS is still at the top of any list, IMO.  And then a random 9 to fill in the blanks ... many to choose from, but no dastardly Bruins, or equally dastardly Flyers.

Tough decisions.

I’m going for a few D-men because I like watching how they can control both ends and log nearly half a game.

Connor McDavid

Sidney Crosby

Nathan MacKinnon

Nikita Kucherov

Patrice Bergeron

Seth Jones

Victor Hedman

Roman Josi

Alex Ovechkin

Erik Karlsson

I'm too lazy to come up with a top ten list, but I'll tell you what- every time I watch a Stars game I'm impressed by Radulov.  Good scoring approaching a point a game, a huge physical presence and tough to play against.

Eh.  Go to another team's forum and I bet he makes his fair share of them.  Until the Sabres win he will be undervalued, especially by his own team's fans.

Even if he was one of the 10 best players in the league (he's not), he'd be left off most lists as long as the team is bad. Players like McDavid who are so unquestionably amazing that they get included on these lists irrespective of team success are the exception.

Agree with this.

Also think that in the first half of the season Jack was making a case for being among the league’s elite.

Just saw this. I don't think Blake Wheeler had a great year, counting stats be damned, and I think Scheifele is really a top tier guy. This is also a prediction for next season more than a description of the last one. He just plays the kind of hockey I love out of my centers. I'd kill for Jack to have his off-puck instincts in the offensive zone.

Couple a Crosby-like dedication to the game, and I'm sold.

Yeah, I like him too, I took too many D-men to make room for him.

A lot of stuff I have read about him makes him out to be a hockey geek.
