Used to be a highly touted prospect, former 1st round pick that failed to transition to the pro game.
Seems like a good player to add to Rochester. If he finds his game he'll help out the Amerks & maybe resurrect his career.

I think its good for gm's to take fliers on players like this.

Born: February 2, 1995 (age 24 years), Salmon Arm, Canada

Height: 6′ 1″

Center

Drafted 2010, 1 #2 overall by Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL Bantam Draft

2013 NHL Entry Draft: Ranked #17 by Future Considerations

Played 2009-10 with the Pursuit of Excellence's bantam team as team captain and in 51 games, scored 57 goals and added 58 assists for 115 points.

SCOUTING REPORT

Has excellent two-way ability and a tremendous work rate. Owns plenty of character and usually plays much bigger than his below-average frame suggests. Can score key goals, too. Plays all three forward positions. Needs to become a more consistent point producer in the National Hockey League. Also needs to get stronger in order to play his abrasive style effectively at the highest level. Needs to also improve his setup skills.

Long Range Potential:Quality, versatile two-way forward with some upside.

Decent Amerks signing. But a 1 way contract? How does that fit in to all this?

As long as it's for less than about $1.2 MM it won't effect the Sabres cap and nearly guarantees nobody claims him on waivers.  Pegula's motto "I'll dig another well."

He needs to clear waivers to be sent down, and he gets the same salary in the NHL or AHL

Is this confirmed?  Sounds like BS

Can't be confirmed until the signing window opens tomorrow. Monday.

If he plays a single game in a Sabres uniform, something has gone horribly wrong.

Not even as a fourth liner eh?  I'm desperate to get Girgs out of the lineup.

I'd love a reason to move on from Z but he's clearly a better player than Lazar in every way.

Which, if true, makes you think it's not a "Rochester signing" and the intent is to use him on the Sabres. So...
