dudacek Posted April 24, 2019 Report Posted April 24, 2019 Hey, Martin has won in the playoffs. Just once since 2003 and just seven series out of 19, but he’s won. And he has made the playoffs as a head coach two more times the past 13 years than Housley ever did. Seriously, Martin is a 66-year-old who has been a professional coach for 35 years and on an NHL bench for most of the past 30. He’s seen it all and is probably a lot smarter and more capable than we give him credit for. And he might be the least inspiring hire I can think of. 2 Quote

Kruppstahl Posted April 24, 2019 Report Posted April 24, 2019 Would be a huge mistake, but the sooner he gets here, the sooner he leaves here, and the sooner Botterill leaves with him, and the sooner we stop trying to copy all things Pittsburgh, which isn't going to work with our group anyway. Having said that, it would be easier just to avoid him in the first place. 1 Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted April 24, 2019 Report Posted April 24, 2019 Well, I suppose the "experience is far and away the most important thing" crew might be happy? Can't imagine being excited about this. Quote
mjd1001 Posted April 24, 2019 Report Posted April 24, 2019 The game changes. Players change. Any 'experience' that is more than 10 years in the past (maybe even less than that) might not mean much, as today's game is much different. Show me someone's credentials in the past 5 years...MAYBE take into consideration what they have done for the 5 years previous to that....beyond that I don't care much. Quote
