Die Hard Posted April 7, 2019 Report Posted April 7, 2019 Thank God. Lottery ticket time.... I hope we have a good candidate in mind. 2 Quote
apuszczalowski Posted April 7, 2019 Report Posted April 7, 2019 (edited) Sportsnet in Canada just confirmed it Are they trying to get the jump on getting Boughner from Florida? He does meet their criteria of "Played for the Sabres at some point"..... Edited April 7, 2019 by apuszczalowski 2 Quote
Hoss Posted April 7, 2019 Report Posted April 7, 2019 Methinks we'll be trying to land an interview with JQ before he commits to Florida. 5 Quote
freester Posted April 7, 2019 Report Posted April 7, 2019 I think they will fire Botteril after he wins the lottery on Tuesday night. The lottery is his area of expertise. 3 1 Quote

North Buffalo Posted April 7, 2019 Report Posted April 7, 2019 Interesting JBot has to have someone in mind before lottery. 1 Quote

I think they have already dotted the 'I's and crossed the 'T's in Florida and are just waiting to announce it He does have a relationship with Tallon from their Chicago days, theres no tie to Buffalo Just now, North Buffalo said: Interesting JBot has to have someone in mind before lottery. Brawndo Posted April 7, 2019 Author Report Posted April 7, 2019 Botterill will speak with the media at 4:30 1 Quote

Sure, if they hire some nobody who has never coached hockey in their life I'll roll my eyes but I have zero sense of what it takes to be a successful coach in the NHL and nothing I've thought would work prior has worked. More concerned about getting the right players. I also hope Phil gets another assistant job somewhere then works his way back to being a head coach somewhere. darksabre Posted April 7, 2019 Report Posted April 7, 2019 Well, there it is. Clearly Botterill thinks the roster is better than the results. 8 1 Quote

I can't figure out whether that's a good thing. Half joking, as I too think the roster was better than the results...but I hope he doesn't think too highly of what he has assembled. 2 Quote

I'm not on the "Q or bust" bandwagon, I just think it would be silly to exclude him because of the last year or so in Chicago. Quote
Huckleberry Posted April 7, 2019 Report Posted April 7, 2019 I just read it on the boughner firing, but had to happen. I'm sure it might be part of pleasing Skinner as well. 2 Quote

The issue is more if Botts thinks he is worth what Skinner is going to ask for, not who the coach will be I don't think there was ever an issue between Skinner and Housley, but there will be an issue between what Botts wants to pay and what Skinner wants to be paid Quote
