woods-racer Posted March 26, 2019 Report Posted March 26, 2019 Big stay at home defense-man with good speed and good foot work, looks to take the body and is pretty good at outlet passes. This is my memory of him without looking him up to see what others have said. Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted March 26, 2019 Report Posted March 26, 2019 (edited) I’m not surprised he earned a call up. He has exceeded expectations at all levels since drafted. He was a surprise addition to the world jr team as a freshman and then was one of its best defensive players. He made the Olympic team although he didn’t get PT during the games; losing out to vets. i wouldn’t be surprised at all if he is an NHLer next season. Edited March 26, 2019 by GASabresIUFAN Quote
Kruppstahl Posted March 26, 2019 Report Posted March 26, 2019 This is the move we've been waiting for. Big turnaround inbound. [That's a joke] Quote
New Guy Posted March 26, 2019 Report Posted March 26, 2019 I'm not sure he's soft enough for this team 2 1 Quote

That Aud Smell Posted March 26, 2019 Report Posted March 26, 2019 among other things, the *balance* he showed in that fight was very impressive. hey - here's hoping. Quote

So, the question is how does a defensive defensemen work in a system where there are supposed to be 5 guys on the attack? 1 Quote

He has been joining the rush much more in Rochester and does not look out of place doing it 1 Quote

I hope fans aren't thinking here comes the next great fighter. He has only dropped em a couple times as an Amerk. He handled himself just fine but I don't think his opponents were pugilists. He'll thump ya (body check wise) tho if enter his area with the puck. A refreshing thing to see. 2 Quote

bob_sauve28 Posted March 26, 2019 Report Posted March 26, 2019 I hope we are seeing the young talent moving up and filling the cracks in this team. Lord knows they will need more Quote
PerreaultForever Posted March 26, 2019 Report Posted March 26, 2019 Been wanting to see this guy. Really the only reason to watch tonight. Quote

But Olafsson and CJ Smith deserve real long-term shots. C.J. Smith consistently drives play for the Amerks. He is a very fast and nibble skater. He reminds me a little of Skinner. The other night he took a pass backwards, turned flawlessly, and then flew into the o-zone to score a point as I recall. He kills penalties too. I think that during his call-up that he wasn't allowed to play his real game. He deserves at least as much of a shot as Tage Thompson. Edited March 27, 2019 by etiennep99 Quote
