They are probably a better roster on paper, their capacity for growth and future (urghhh) achievement seems to be higher, but their on ice aptitude as it stands right this second is more of the same, I'd say. Just look at their record the last 40 odd games.

That's what makes it such a nasty last few months. We were this close to greatness (for this season's expectations, anyway).

I got asterisked!

But aren't you entertained...

Is that a shot at me?

because no, this game isn’t entertaining. And the Stanley cup champion New Jersey devils weren’t either.

That Dallas final was a bloodbath and very entertaining.

Dallas scored the fewest goals in a 6-game series ever. (Fewer than we did the season before.) And I still like Elias and Langenbrunner a bunch. And yes, those constant dead puck 0-0 games were entertaining in a different way. Tense. Aggressive. Flailing. We just haven't had it for so long we've forgotten.

I didn’t watch, but I trust your judgment. I don’t recall ever watching NJ and doing anything but sleeping.

I’ll never forget the closeup of a bloody tooth on ice.

Like most teams this season, the Penguins are better than us at Alamo/Death Star mode.

On a side note, we don't look horrible at the moment --- even without the ability to sustain anything. What is our goal differential in the 2nd period this season? Is that easily found?

I'm so sick and tired of hearing the "They just can't catch a break" excuse. Or "We just keeping facing hot goaltenders".

Right, because the Sabres are the only team who has bad luck from time to time. Nobody else faces a hot goaltender. Nobody else hits the posts.

I hope they get shutout like I predicted. It's unfortunate they are at home, I'd love to see the Sabres leave him at the curb waiting for a cab like the Panthers did to Spuddy.
