Giving up 7, 4 and then 6 goals at home.  Most of these goals are right next to the net with the goalie left on his own.  Something is not right.  Remember all the talk of our defense getting good?   Team defense is just pathetic.

We are carrying 8 defensemen. Risto, Scandella, and Bogo should not be exempt from the press box. Whatever the message is... it’s not working. Start stapling guys to the bench. Put a “top 4” in the press box.

Yeah, I have to agree.  Pretty uninspired hockey.  That can't happen when you're the leader at this point in the season - good news is he knows that.

It's a process to learn how to carry a team when there's really only 3-4 talented offensive players (now).  There's no room for bad nights, unfortunately.  It's a difficult spot to be in for a young man.

Rodrigues and the secondary scoring have been buoying the team up as much as anyone lately. Reinhart has been really good. They aren't asking Jack to carry the team anymore like they were earlier in the season.

Meanwhile we scored 13 goals in those 3 games. 4.3 goals per game and went 1-2!!!! Pathetic defense, fer sher.

3 of 6 points.

We need more.

Right, 1-1-1 so far. We needed 5-1-1 or 4-1-2 at the worst, so, gotta go 4-0 or 3-0-1 over the next 4 or they aren't going to make the playoffs.

You missed my point.  I'm not talking about lately.

There's not enough talent or veteran presence to afford Jack a horrible game.  Rodriguez is scoring but this team isn't staying a float - it's drowning.

Fair enough,  but there was enough of it tonight to afford him a bad game by his standards, just not a horrible one.

Isn't this what we wanted a couple years ago? A frenetic, offensively talented team (ala TOR a couple years ago) that didn't yet know how to play defense as a team? And therefore... exciting games, but knowing we still needed a little bit of time to season up.

We just don’t have a good hockey IQ as a team.  Could we use more talent? Yes.  But we don’t play good fundamental hockey.  That is on coaching to change this.  Someone has to reach these guys because they do refuse to play smart.

IQ at the coaching level is inherent.  It's difficult to change and thus convey smarts when necessary.  Phil was quite an offensive defenseman; he wasn't a cover guy.  Are any of his assistants truly defense oriented?

There are some really weird comments coming from the players and Phil...

Ya, I don't normally watch the press conferences but ***** seemed awkward.
