Brawndo Posted January 18, 2019 Report Posted January 18, 2019 (edited) For Justin Bailey Edited January 18, 2019 by Brawndo Quote
Hoss Posted January 18, 2019 Report Posted January 18, 2019 AHL deal for sure. Neither guy has an NHL future. 1 1 Quote
In The Buff Posted January 18, 2019 Report Posted January 18, 2019 Without knowing the type of game Leier plays, this trade is kind of a head scratcher in that theyre one in the same. Flyers get our AHL winger in return for theirs. Both have similar numbers. Perhaps Leier will be a cheaper salary option for Rochester down the road than Bailey? Beats me I got all excited for a second that we made a trade & then i saw who was involved lol Quote
bunomatic Posted January 18, 2019 Report Posted January 18, 2019 A second rounder for a fourth rounder. Neither has developed to the point where they're considered N.H.L. forwards. Kind of a head scratcher imo. Who knows ? Quote
Scottysabres Posted January 18, 2019 Report Posted January 18, 2019 At least we know Botterill still has a pulse 2 Quote
Taro T Posted January 18, 2019 Report Posted January 18, 2019 At least they didn't bring back Bob Corkum again, yet. 1 Quote
inkman Posted January 18, 2019 Report Posted January 18, 2019 Me thinks JBOT got a better AHL player while Philly got a guy with NHL potential. 1 Quote
Indabuff Posted January 18, 2019 Report Posted January 18, 2019 Well, there's the "trade". We can all put down our pitchforks and torches and go home... Quote

He might in Philly. His grandparents and mother are going to be devastated, for sure. But distance from them is going to be the best thing for him. I don't know much about Leier, but based on reading from people in Lehigh Valley, he is a pretty decent AHLer. About to turn 25 next month. Great speed but can't make it in the NHL. In 55 career NHL games, he has only 2 goals and 5 assists. In the AHL, he's got pretty good corsi %, is a very effective penalty killer and in the last 4 games he has scored 6 points. Bailey seems like a guy who is still going to get several shots at the NHL. Quote
Ross Rhea Posted January 18, 2019 Report Posted January 18, 2019 I kind of had enough of Bailey and Baptiste last year when they could produce and stick on an awful Sabres team. Quote

GASabresIUFAN Posted January 18, 2019 Report Posted January 18, 2019 (edited) Another TM/DR great draft pick sent packing by Jbot. Oh well. Buh-Bye Granted this is a nothing trade involving 2 guys with nearly identical number in both the AHL and NHL. However we gave up the younger and bigger player. Not sure why everything needs to be qualified. The trade involved two AHL players with little to no NHL future. It doesn't really seem like the time to cast aspersions.
