no trading away most of their talent and watching Colorado draft Hughes with their first overall pick is just dandy. I was kinda making light of the situation, chill out.

Just asking what people thought they would do? They basically had to get what they could and try not to make a bad mistake worse. They will be in on the Lafraniere sweepstakes next year at least.

I think of the years when the Sabres were really down, the light at the end of that tunnel was the promise of getting the #1/#2 overall pick. I can't imagine as a fan watching a DFL team knowing the "fruits" of your suffering will be realized by another team.
