Sabres Fan in NS Posted January 15, 2019 Report Posted January 15, 2019 I know nothing of the Edmonton debacle, except for the final score. Was Scandella not on a 'regular pairing' for that game? 2 minutes ago, darksabre said: Phil: "I tried something new one time and it didn't immediately work so I'm never doing it again." Give. Sam. His. Own. Line. Samson will not get his own line for the remainder of this season. I think Phil has the notion, ill founded IMO, that he is coaching for, not the playoffs, but for his life right now. He is convinced that the best chance for the Sabres to win is to keep Samson on the #1 line with Jack and Skinny. He may not be wrong in that thinking, but they have not been winning with that line intact, so he should be doing something else with Samson. Quote

Yes Scandella was on a Pairing with Beaulieu yesterday, he had a beautiful pass to Lucic on his goal . If he truly is coaching for his job he should try something different as what he is doing isn’t working, 1 1 Quote

Though, you could argue that his value would be higher in the press box than it is after making that pass. But he does kill penalties and a team who struggles or needs depth for a playoff run may still value him. Quote

I can’t see it happening unless the Sabres retain salary. Quote

That was merely one of the many services he provided to the Oilers last night. 7 minutes ago, Wyldnwoody44 said: Why bother practicing, It isn't helping, team bonding in Calgary instead Yeah, this losing streak is nothing that hookers and blow can't fix. Everyone knows what he is, I don't think anything the Sabres do will affect his value. Quote

When its not working with a single high scoring line you have to break it up and try different combinations. That and other teams double shift their best center across more than one line. That can create mismatches and more secondary scoring. I agree with whoever I saw in another thread say Phil made a decent assistant coach but he does not appear to have what it takes to be head coach... It looks more and more like that with his use of this roster. Hell I an am starting to think Ted Nolan could do better head coaching then what we are seeing from Wowie. Quote

And he's no longer in Berglund's shadow so he's getting better opportunities. Quote

I can't take double shifting Eichel. He already looks bored and tired in the final 10 seconds of his current shifts. I don't need 2x the emo lazy stick swinging defense. Quote
