We better hope Risto (6 years, 32 million) and Jack (8 years, 80 million) treat us a little better. and most of the talking heads around the league questioned or even scoffed at the Eichel deal but so far JBot seems to be right. The past does not dictate the future, and none of those terrible deals are on current management. Quote

The Ennis deal could have been worth it if it weren't for his concussion issues. Hodgson lead the team in points at least once that I know of. And Ehrhoff was fairly young when they signed him so $4mil/year was worth it at the time. Tavares carried Moulson and Okposo on his back. They apparently weren't as talented as most thought. Those were bad deals. Leino......... that was the worst of them all. Skinner has proven himself year after year to be a pure goal scorer and he's still young. Leino was signed to his massive deal because of one good post-season. That was stupid. Quote

And because he had played center ... in Finland ... before being traded to another team, where he was moved to RW and finally became productive. ? Quote
nfreeman Posted January 11, 2019 Report Posted January 11, 2019 That list also demonstrates the reason that the NBA owners insisted on a 4-year limit on contracts (5 years for extensions with the player’s existing team) in their last CBA, and why the NHL owners tried to get a similar limit in their last CBA. Of course, there’s a downside to shorter contracts too, as it means teams will often lose their best players after shorter periods. Quote
