I agree PI with the cross roads analogy.

I consider it a step in their growth. There is a model a lot of good teams use when they are down important Players/pieces in the playoffs on the road.

Starts with being able to adjust your playing style to match some of your opponents but almost always has a tight checking defense first mentality. You want to have maximum effort from everyone and be the initiator because that disrupts the other teams fore check.

Keep it at least even to the 3rd period. Make the most of your scoring chances. Capitalize on special teams especially PP's.

If everyone does their part from Goaltender out you should give yourself the opportunity to win and really put the pressure on the home team to blink first the later the game gets.

I want to see how we can play in an important game like this as good barometer of where we are as a team and that includes coaching.

If we can match their effort and win on the road in their barn what a confidence boost that can be...

Let's go Buff-a-lo!

I like the decision to stick with Ullmark. I still don't think Hutton is the reason we've been losing, but the team seems to play better in front of him. Maybe because Hutton carried us through so many games early in the season the players are expecting him to do it every night for us?

I agree with the crossroads vibe. A win on the road against a division rival that's now passed us in the standings without Eichel would be HUGE. Eichel always seems to step up his game in Boston too. Not having him tonight is a huge bummer. Hopefully we can ride some momentum from Thursday.

He won’t.

It’s not like Linus is coming off a shutout.

And phil doesn’t work that way

Oh yes Phil DOES work that way!

I like the move to keep Linus, but why can’t you reevaluate the other forward lines.  Just  because you got a much needed home win against Florida  with superior play by your first line (shocking), does not excuse the poor play by other forwards.  Maybe the injury to Jack is precluding any other moves until he returns.

Bovada has the Bruins as -220 on the Moneyline.  At home, and their injuries are not what they were when we beat them earlier in December this game has the signs of going sideways.  Especially  without Captain Jack.  If they somehow win, it would display the mettle and growth of a team that can compete down the stretch.   Fingers crossed.

Well done.

First time Phil has started Ullmark in two consecutive games without extenuating circumstances?

That forward grouping is brutal. It really exposes this team’s depth outside of Jack.

That defensive grouping is pretty damn solid though.

Let’s hope the Sabres can sneak out a victory as underdogs.

This has the feeling of an important game, a crossroads, if you will, not necessarily a do or die since we're only at the halfway point of the season, but an important game for me as a fan, psychologically speaking, where a win will go a long way in restoring some faith I've lost in this club over the past 3 weeks, while a loss would cement the idea that this team still has a long ways to go.

The game might forever be remembered as the one where Ullmark took the reins and never let go

Hopefully the Sabres can get inspired by the Beauts who are now up 4-0 over the Boston Pride, including a goal from my fellow Clarkson Alumni Savannah Harmon. Let's go for a double Boston defeat tonight!

What year did you go to Clarkson?  I was there from ‘99-‘04.

Strangely I also lived in Baltimore for 5 years out of school.

Did I just take the bait?  At times I feel that you are a master baiter.  Yup.

Maybe I'm wrong.

Maybe. Clarkson was a very small school. I thought I knew most of the Buffalo folks up there when I went, but maybe it was just the guys from my High School. Then again I haven't talked to any of those guys in like 15 years, so maybe he's one of them ?
