As for the record, the notion after the 10-game winning streak was that the Sabres just had to play .500 the rest of the way. Maybe. But with a loss tonight, they're 4-6-3 since the streak. A decent sample size. If this is who they really are, they absolutely will miss.

They still strike me as a team that doesn’t have a killer instinct and maybe doesn’t realize they’re not nearly a safe bet for the playoffs even with that 10 game streak. Perfect example was the Philly loss where they got a 2-0 lead and then completely stopped trying and ended  with a blowout loss. At this rate, I wouldn’t be shocked if they’re out of a playoff spot 20 games from now and scrambling to get back in.

Still gotta think JBots brings in another forward to help with the secondary scoring before the deadline if we're still in the hunt for a playoff berth. I know its been mentioned in other threads but its a glaring need for one. But with Berglunds departure idk how he can't make a move if we're close to making the post season.

Would love to win this game however. Good teams find ways to beat worse teams. We need to put games like this in the bag

Agreed. This team still has major flaws in the forward ranks

It’s been a bad month... the problem is because we have no secondary scoring.  Virtually none.

It's the kind of situation where you need every player giving max effort every night just to have a chance, especially the top line. Which can really grind you down. A little more depth would go a long way towards spreading the workload around.

This year the goaltending is vastly improved as is the defense.  Jack is elite and with Skinner we have an elite top line.  But... losing O’Reilly set us back.  We need a second line center to drive play.  Mitts is years away yet.

One of the problems we have is we can't effectively shorten the bench to manufacture scoring pressure, since our 2nd best line is usually Larsson and Zemgus.

This third period is a time when is like to be able to do that
