Canada still produces the most talent but the gap is closing. It's tough for these kids to win it every year with the pressure Canadians put on them, much easier for the US kids who outside of Buffalo and a couple other hockey border cities care about or even know the tournament is going on....... I am not sure about that at their level its easier... game has caught up and Canadians and Russsians are not the only countries with lots of talent and good all year long training. Its tough to win because there is more competition. Quote
Brawndo Posted December 28, 2018 Report Posted December 28, 2018 UPL was the player of the game for Finland for their first game and Oskari Laaksonen was the player of the game for their second game Quote

I think that it's great that the Sabres have a player who's initials role off the tongue very nicly ... UPL is our very own OEL, but not from Sweden. Quote
pi2000 Posted December 29, 2018 Report Posted December 29, 2018 On my way to the RUS/CZE game. Who should I keep an eye on? Quote

Taro T Posted January 1, 2019 Report Posted January 1, 2019 Lukkonen looking real bad against USA tonight. 2 - 5 holes; 1 of which was from a very bad angle; and another that trickled through from a bad angle. USA up late in the 2nd. Quote
Derrico Posted January 2, 2019 Report Posted January 2, 2019 Canada Finland tomorrow. That sucks as I have to root on the Canadians but was hoping Finland went far based on the two Sabres prospects. Quote
Eleven Posted January 2, 2019 Report Posted January 2, 2019 Finally a game at a normal time. 8pm v. Czechia. Quote

I'm definitely behind Canada but if Finland wins I hope they go all the way. This version of Team Canada gas not captured my imagination as past teams have. I'm disappointed in the D, I expected big things from Bouchard and Dobson. There's still time, potentially 3 games. Quote
Eleven Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 Please, Finland. You have one period left. Please rid us of the Gordons. 1 Quote

Didn't catch any of the game but heard Luukkonen stopped a penalty shot. Must have played much better than the other night. 1 Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted January 3, 2019 Author Report Posted January 3, 2019 UPL keeps the Canadians to 1 goal and Finland advances. Sweden also gets shutout and the Swiss advance. USA playing well. However Samuelsson is lacking wheels. Quote

The Canadians, who come here and actively root against the USA no matter who we are playing, are out on home ice in the quarterfinals. It is utter humiliation and it is awesome. 3 Quote
Thorner Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 Only 2 golds in last 10 WJC for Canada. They've had "what's wrong?" summits here for much less. It's rather a myth that Canada is a dominant team in this tourney, now. Quote
Eleven Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 Also, has anyone seen a goaltender wear #2 before? Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted January 3, 2019 Author Report Posted January 3, 2019 The Czech goalie is playing awesome. Quote
