Marions Piazza Posted December 18, 2018 Report Posted December 18, 2018 (edited) What's point of Thompson on the 4th line? That line was working well the way it was. i dont think hes defensively responsible enough for that. Sheary continuing his slide out of relevancy, not so sure he gets re-signed unless he picks up his play Edited December 18, 2018 by Marions Piazza Quote

That Aud Smell Posted December 18, 2018 Report Posted December 18, 2018 From what I see in the charts, the Panthers are a good team. Let's go, Buffalo! Quote

Sheary continuing his slide out of relevancy, not so sure he gets re-signed unless he picks up his play Sheary is great for what he is. But I agree on Thompson Bottom line is Mitts needs to play better, and then his wingers won't have a constant turnover rate as to who he's playing with. 1 Quote
That Aud Smell Posted December 18, 2018 Report Posted December 18, 2018 I love this guy's charts - even if I do not understand them completely. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 18, 2018 Report Posted December 18, 2018 Vinz sighting. Is Linus not even OK to backup? Or is that just to have a second goaler for practice? Quote
WildCard Posted December 18, 2018 Report Posted December 18, 2018 Mean that's what the big descriptors in the corners are for Smell ? Quote

Brennan Huff Posted December 18, 2018 Report Posted December 18, 2018 Can someone explain to me why Ryan Vinz is backing up Hutton? Quote

The Sabres are ... a little dull and a bit lucky? Kinda. We don't shoot a lot but we don't let up a lot of shots against. What that chart fails to quantify is how good those shots are. Hence Carolina is so far in the 'Good' zone despite a mediocre record and 84 goals for. For reference, that's 29th in the league. So, is Carolina really 'Good'? Well, not really. They just shoot a lot 1 Quote
Brawndo Posted December 18, 2018 Report Posted December 18, 2018 McCabe should be back this weekend per Vogl 2 Quote

I just hope Thompson works okay in a shutdown role. That's not who I would put with Mitts but let's see how that works. Quote

Mustache of God Posted December 18, 2018 Report Posted December 18, 2018 Don't quite understand the bottom 3 lines but I have to give HCPH some trust cause whatever he's doing is working. BUT. The 4th line of Girgs, Larsson & EROD has been effective, why break that up? The middle 6 worries me but I find solace knowing JBOT is still building, and we have 4 1st rounders in the next 2 years. I really hope Nylander or Olofsson can make the jump soon. If it were up to me I'd roll a youth line of Sheary - Mittelstadt - Thompson and a corpse line of Pominville - Sobotka - Okposo. Go Sabres! These divisional games are always important standings-wise. Don't let them gain any ground! Quote

I would speculate that you want two goalies for practice, and if Ullmark is basically okay but they want to give him a maintenance day to nurse a minor muscle pull or something, you don't need to call up a replacement from Rochester, you use Vinz for your second practice goalie. I fully expect that Ullmark will back up Huts. If Ullmark is truly day-to-day and they don't want him to back up today, Wedgewood is probably on his way up from Rochester as we speak. I had another chart in mind (where the Sabres show as a little bit fortunate (or maybe just solid in net)). Quote

dudacek Posted December 18, 2018 Report Posted December 18, 2018 (edited) Thompson with the Baltic brothers robs that pair of their biggest strength IMO and means Eichel should be playing Barkov all night. The middle six? Why not? Edited December 18, 2018 by dudacek Quote
