As others have already noted, Zemgus was abused pretty good by hockey (or Hockey) for several games prior to his night off.  Giving him a break seems completely justified.

I'll keep saying this until it happens, but ERod should be Pommers replacement on that line.  Or at least given a few games to see how it goes.

I'd be fine with giving Rodrigues a look with that line when Pominville needs a break.  Not interested in seeing Okposo play with Eichel.  It should work, butit doesn't.

The way the team has been rolling it seems that depth players (Larry, Zemgus, Bergy, Rodger, Tommer, Nate and Nelly) are being shuffled out mostly for reasons other than poor recent play - opponents, knicks and bruises, or simply to give another guy a chance.

But it doesn’t appear Housley is averse to letting one or more of those guys graduate as Larry may have and Tage might be in the process of doing.

And I will say one thing about Phil as opposed to some old school coaches: he has a lot of patience for skill guys.

It takes one to know one.

Phil seems to understand that if someone is rotting on the bench for 2 months, he likely won’t be in a position to help you when needed.  Like backups goalies, depth players need opportunities to keep them focused and part of the team.

This game is really going to mean something to this group.  They got spanked by SJ in SJ 5-1 back on 10/18.  That loss dropped the Sabres to 3-4-0 and things looked a little bleak after back to back blowout loses heading into a back to back against LA and Ana.  Since then the Sabre are 13-2-2 including 6 OT/SO wins.

I’m sure PH is telling the guys that tonight’s game is a measuring stick of how far they have come in the last 4+ weeks.  Win tonight and they solidity themselves as a contender.  Lose and the critics get to claims the 9 game streak was a fluke fueled by OT/SO luck.

i don’t necessarily agree with that sentiment but it is a hell of a motivator. I expect we’ll see the best this team has to offer tonight because of that loss in SJ.

Sheary will be missed if he doesn't play but this is a huge opportunity for Tage.  That looks like a scoring line that won't get pushed around.

Is this a funny? I can't tell.

Well he can drive himself, you just refuse to let him.

Your priorities are way out of order.

No, I honestly don't think he'd figure out how to start the car yet.  ?

Never mind all that.

Did you notice the shout out to you in the thread title?  You are famous, man.

There will be blood

In the water.......................... which is ice when frozen.

Not sure when the law of averages or Murphy's law(puck luck) will rear its ugly head but as long as the efforts continue to be there across the board I will not be disappointed.

This team has given me more to watch over the last month than the previous 3 years.....

Let's Go Buff-a-lo.

Home ice is your stomping ground and i see a team that needs stomped.

Tage was wobbly on his pins early on.  He seems to be stronger the last few games, more assertive, using his size better.

I don't know, Davey.

Let's win this in regulation and silence the critics.

Let's get Bo Derek! Look her up if you are too young, the original 10.

Helen of Troy would like a word.

I grow weary of these close, 1-goal games. Tonight I desire a blowout, in the favor of the Sabres.

Jack is due for a hat-trick, yes?

Dahlin could use another goal.

Been awhile since Okposo scored.

Raise the  barn and get some matches, I wanna watch this mother burn!

Go Sabres.

Yahoo listed him as day to day yesterday.  Not sure what the injury is.

Based on how it was reported from the practice, it sounded like a knock/strain of some kind. Apparently, he was out there for the early warm-up portion of practice and then left the ice.

will Pilut play?

My guess is they’re leaving this up to chance but if Bogo is playing there’s no reason for him to be called up.
