Huckleberry Posted November 13, 2018 Report Posted November 13, 2018 Very rough couple of games we got coming, a good test for this team. lightning , Jets/wild back to back games and penguins. If we win half of those I'm happy ? 1 Quote
SabresBaltimore Posted November 13, 2018 Report Posted November 13, 2018 This will be a big test. We need to start beating the teams ahead of us, and Tampa is having a great season so far. 1 minute ago, Huckleberry said: Very rough couple of games we got coming, a good test for this team. lightning , Jets/wild back to back games and penguins. If we win half of those I'm happy ? I'd prefer wins over lightning and pens than the Jets or Wild, but yeah if we can come out with 4-5 points I'll be happy. Pens are 3 points behind us with 2 games in hand, so a loss to them would put us out of the wild card spot. It's early in the season still, but these head to heads may be the difference at the end of the season. Quote

jsb Posted November 13, 2018 Report Posted November 13, 2018 TONIGHT’S GAMELIGHTNING at SABRES This is the first of four meetings between the Sabres and Lightning this season. Last meeting: Tampa Bay defeated Buffalo 7-5 in Tampa on April 6 Next meeting: Thursday, Nov. 29 in Tampa The Sabres are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Lightning; 2-5-3 at home This is the 99th game all-time between Buffalo and Tampa Bay; Buffalo has a 54-36-8 series record. The Sabres are 25-18-5 at home against the Lightning all-time. THIS DAY IN SABRES HISTORY The Sabres are 11-8-2 all-time on November 13 November 13, 1983: Mike Foligno and Gilbert Perreault each score a hat trick in an 11-2 Sabres win vs. Calgary. November 13, 2006: Teppo Numminen appears in his 1,252nd NHL game at Carolina, surpassing Jari Kurri for the most by a European-trained player at the time. WHAT’S THE SKINNY? With 12 goals through Buffalo’s first 17 games, Jeff Skinner entered play Monday trailing only David Pastrnak (16 goals) for most in the NHL this season. With his 10th goal in the team’s 16th game of the season on Thursday at Montreal, Skinner reached the 10-goal mark quicker than any Sabres player since Thomas Vanek (10 games) in 2012-13. Only five players in franchise history have scored more goals through 17 team games than Skinner’s current total: Dave Andreychuk (17 in 1992-93), Rick Martin (14 in 1972-73 and 1973-74), Danny Gare (13 in 1980-81), Gilbert Perreault (13 in 1977-78) and Thomas Vanek (13 in 2008-09). LGR4GM Posted November 13, 2018 Report Posted November 13, 2018 Putting Reinhart on the top line to "balance" the lines is one of the reasons I don't trust Housley. Sure Pomminstein might have slowed but has that line? Nope. I bet that Sobotka - Erod - Pommers line isn't going to be something and when it stalls, the blame will fall on Erod because for some reason the coaching staff haven't figured out Sobotka is an anchor. He is nothing if not consistent. :) Back to the game - this is a big test for our up-and-coming team. They have had some intriguing showings against the last few teams, but I don't think they will be able to overcome a slow period and battle back against this solid Lightning team. Quote
nfreeman Posted November 13, 2018 Report Posted November 13, 2018 I don't mind McGuire, but I find Emrick pretty annoying. He's knowledgeable and passionate about the game, which is great, but he needs to talk about 30% less IMHO. Separately -- here are a few items I'd like to see tonight: - Good goaltending -- Hutton played well for much of the Canucks game, but allowed 2 poor goals - Reino ending up back with ERod and Sobotka, and either Pommer or TT with Jack and Skinner - TT showing some offense - Sharp, smart play in the D-zone, esp. from Risto -- otherwise TB will make it hurt - Eichel looking healthy and rested Quote

If he has to play at 70% like last game, I don't see us with much of a chance tonight. He needs to be a difference maker. Quote
