Sabres Fan in NS Posted November 11, 2018 Report Posted November 11, 2018 A very solemn day here in Canada. The annual events were even more special. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/bells-of-peace-armistice-remembrance-day-legion-churches-1.4898614 It is sunset here in Halifax and the bells are ringing. It is really something to here. Time to pray ... Quote

bob_sauve28 Posted November 12, 2018 Report Posted November 12, 2018 Quote Mrs Merkel became the first German leader since World War Two to visit the forest near the town of Compiègne in northern France where the Armistice was signed. She and Mr Macron unveiled a plaque to Franco-German reconciliation, laid a wreath and signed a book of remembrance in a replica railway carriage. This is great. What would the people of Germany and France said 100 years ago if they could have looked into the future and seen this? Or 104 years ago before that's insane war took place. Quote

I would be there just to see how the sun interacts with the monument leading up to the day and time, at the exact moment, and for a few days after. I think that *stuff* is cool. I also like to find the International Space Station. Quote

Those prayers are not silent. I did say some extra prayers especially for Remebrance Day, as well, which are always silent. Quote
darksabre Posted November 13, 2018 Report Posted November 13, 2018 Charles Pierce, one of my favorite writers, had some thoughts on Armistice Day. https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a25006037/armistice-day-veterans-day/ Quote
woods-racer Posted November 13, 2018 Author Report Posted November 13, 2018 Nothing like taking a somber day of remembrance and use it to write a story to push a political narrative. How new an idea. Quote
