Randall Flagg Posted November 11, 2018 Report Posted November 11, 2018 There was a time when Fedun was one of the only D in the organization that could pass the puck out of our zone. That's why, for example, he found himself on the ice when Jack had that sick OT goal in Nashville in 16-17. Quote

I remember Fedun being on the ice and the team playing faster, clearing the zone, etc. I'm glad he gets a new opportunity. Quote
LGR4GM Posted November 12, 2018 Report Posted November 12, 2018 Clearing a contract. Drops us to 48 right? Quote
woods-racer Posted November 12, 2018 Report Posted November 12, 2018 (edited) I liked Fedun. Always thought he had a chance. I also forgot the Sabres still had him. I like bags of pucks just as much if they give the young man another chance with another team. Edited November 13, 2018 by woods-racer 1 Quote

Yes it does and the NHL is approaching the time when Teams begin to make contact with Pending College UFAs Agents I mean "Family Advisors" This probably was the biggest reason for the trade in addition to giving Fedun an opportunity to play. 1 Quote
dudacek Posted November 12, 2018 Report Posted November 12, 2018 I see this as a pure give a vet a chance to play move. Fedun may have even requested it after playing just 9 of 14 games. He was behind Redmond, Pilut, Borgen and Guhle and battling with Daugherty, Hickey, Tennyson and MacWilliam for ice time. You just can’t have three guys sitting out regularly. Kids aren’t developing, vets aren’t happy. 1 Quote
dudacek Posted November 15, 2018 Report Posted November 15, 2018 (edited) Randy Sexton, via Hoppe: Sexton said Taylor Fedun, a veteran defenseman the Sabres traded to the Dallas Stars on Saturday, did not want to leave the Amerks. But Fedun, 30, was occasionally a healthy scratch this season and in the final year of his contract. Sexton said with newcomer Jack Dougherty close to returning from a lower-body injury and rookie Will Borgen playing well on the blue line, a trade “made good sense for everybody.” “Dallas needed some defensemen. It was great chance for Taylor to play every night and it was an opportunity to free up a spot for one of our younger players,” Sexton said. The Amerks now have nine defensemen on the roster. Ten wasn’t too many. “You can never have too many defensemen,” Sexton said. The Sabres received a conditional seventh-round pick in 2020 for Fedun, who was assigned to Dallas’ AHL affiliate, the Texas Stars. Edited November 15, 2018 by dudacek Quote

I can understand him not wanting to leave. Quote
Andrew Amerk Posted November 15, 2018 Report Posted November 15, 2018 7th rounder? Good. We get to pick up another Olaffson. Quote

Hoss Posted November 24, 2018 Report Posted November 24, 2018 Fedun scored for the Stars tonight. Haven’t seen any production from Condition Seventh Round-Pick yet. Botterill is in over his head. 3 Quote

Tondas Posted November 24, 2018 Report Posted November 24, 2018 Good for Fedun and good for the Sabres and JBOT. JBOT did Fedun a favor. He's playing in the NHL where he would not be if he wasn't traded. Word gets around the league when players are treated well by management. This move furthers Buffalo's attempt to make Buffalo a destination for other players in the future. Hockey Heaven anyone. 2 Quote
