Good.  Berglund is front-runner for the role of my new whipping boy.

Holy cripes that was fast.

Deserved, though.

Thus far, his main use to the team seems to be driving around all the other Swedes in his GMC Suburban. #godfather

Not fer nothin, but Sobotka has been worse than Berglund in the games he's played IMO. Berglund with Skinner was a good combo, even if most of that was Skinner. Vlad has had no good combos, and yet he gets the defensive role that has given him bizarre shifts with Eichel. Berglund's first game where he was truly bad came from playing with Tage and Vlad, who I think are both not regular NHLers right this second. It's a bit concerning that the result of this is Berglund scratched while Vlad gets more ES time than anyone not on Jack's line.

Wholly crap!!

11:30 PM start time.  Nope.  No can do.

Awesome GDT start Wookie.

GO SABRES!!

ESPN does not do hockey.  Never did and never will.  They just don't care.

Maybe not, but their box score is way better than NHL dot com's.

Flagg and I are a Thompson to the AHL move away from being able to crow big time about the O'Reilly trade. He might not do it, but I've got a sling ready for when I hurt my arm patting myself on the back ?

Well, the reason Sobotka gets more ice time than those others not on the Eichel lineis that he IS (at least for now) the Sabres' equivalent of the 5th Beatle.  He's the 4th member of the Eichel line: the designated defensive zone faceoff specialist.  And he shorts Sheary ice time.

The game he sat, Berglund took his place.  Maybe he's the 5th Icheal?

Really hoping Jack gets to a point that Housley trusts him to at least not lose defensive zone draws cleanly, because sitting Sheary for a third of the ROR line is getting old.

Hutton in net

As expected.  Ullmark likely gets LA, then back to Hutton vs Anaheim.

I mean, dude’s good at what he does, but isn’t putting Nybody over the top... plus the Hot Topic emo kid routine... eh.

Even if Thompson goes down (which he should) it doesn’t means that 1. The ROR trade doesn’t equal addition by subtraction (I firmly believe this) and 2. Thompson won’t grow into becoming a major piece in this team (jury’s out)

Phil seems to need one of these...I just don't know how he came to the conclusion that it should be Sobotka. I'd probably pick 6 other forwards before him, even if it entails lowering a faceoff percentage (haven't seen anybody's yet this season)

And since ROR trade is water under the bridge, True's right that I have little interest in rehashing it...but we got some lip for some of our takes on the two vets in particular, and yet none of our takes were negative enough to project one of them being a healthy scratch on this roster less than 10 games into the first season! So I won't fault him for patting himself on the back ?

I'm also not worried about the healthy scratch. I don't even think it was the right move

I'll be watching the apocalyptic locker room discussions that take place if/when we hit our next rough patch closely for consistency ?

Just messing around.

Agree that Thompson should develop into a nice player. I'd prefer that he goes to Roch when we get back to build his confidence back up - IDK if Smith has the points yet, but I'm reading that he just does all of the little things right, and so that would be a good player to bring up in Tage's place that shows rewarding of good hockey play and doesn't screw up too badly the theme of slow-cooking your prospects together in the AHL.

*feels left out of the ROR angst*

Sorry We've, you need to throw at least one full-blown temper tantrum to join the club - this "mature, careful, reasonable, considerate" vibe you put out is too forgettable.

Having excised the two obvious culprits from what everyone heard was a dysfunctional room last season, plus the constant quotes out of everybody about how much better things are now on this front, it’s no longer an excuse or worth discussing.

I think the culture talk has already begun again though.

According to a tweet from Harrington, Hutton is pretty good against the Sharks in his career. 4-1-1, .955 SP, 1.32 GAA.

The Sharks have a good roster of course, but they've struggled a bit integrating all of the pieces this early it seems. Winnable game. The Sabres actually played quite well during the California games last year, kept them close. Got their first win in Anaheim.

Phil has, lost my support in hiring him. We're stuck with him for now.

OK once again past my bed time game so another game to be recorded to watch later.

Any who the Bogo Nogo mentioned last game thread,  I picked over/under 2 games and my over is still in play so why can't I predict and hit the powerball or mega.

So far they have been bouncing back after a loss so lets do it again Buffalo.

Sometimes when you find yourself on a plane of particular enlightenment, living a daily life surrounded, like Shaun of the Dead, by pumpkin heads, you bring your cantankerous rebellion back to those you love....

At least that’s what happens to me.
