which team played last night?

If anything, that should be a silver lining. Boston looked like the hottest of hot garbage last night and it didn't matter the next day. I don't think this Sabres team is going to be especially good, and I shall continue to snark about culture, but it's still just 1 game.

Please don't get shut out on home ice to start.

The best laid plans of mice and men...

Nice hit by Risto with about 6 minutes left in the game; and the big hit by Sabotka behind the net in the last minute.

Other than that, zero physicality in this game, very little "compete", no sense of desperation, and a lot more of the same .

Not sure I'm paying $ for NHL Center Ice this year.

Very boring team to watch.  Booed and well deserved after 1st, 2nd, and 3rd periods.

To not score a single goal in your home-opener, after all that talk, against a backup goalie on a team on a back to back, is a little disheartening. That doesn't mean it's a chicken little situation but, it's still frustrating optics.

Chicken Little is buried under a bombed out basement RN.

Flagg, Ryan Stimson had these lines in The Athletic the other day,

what are your thoughts on these

Sheary – Eichel – Pominville

Skinner – Mittlestadt – Reinhart

Rodrigues – Berglund – Okposo

Elie – Sobotka- Thompson

Well, Pominville being there makes me disinterested in reading the rest of them.

Sometimes I wonder if I watch the same players that other people do. Especially when, after being the "negative guy" all offseason and last April, it's everyone else thrashing about angrily

Our family was 'cord cutters' for the past few years.  Both my wife and myself work 50-60+ hours a week and don't watch TV much...we got most of our entertainment from Hulu and Netflix.  This year, we decided to subscribe back to cable JUST so I could watch the Sabres games.  I said I don't care if they miss the playoff, i just want to see some GOALS and some good chances everygame.

I'm going to give them a few more games, but things don't look good right now as far as us keeping the cable package for long.

Different players same result... lifeless, passionless, boring, uncompetitive snoozer.  Ristolainen was the only player tonight that showed heart.

Maybe they would play better if they cancelled more practices.  God forbid Housley overworks these poor tortured souls.

Jack fingers the compete, then pretends he didn't say it when Adam Benigni asks the obvious followup.

Always nice when the home organist plays "Closing Time" when the other team scores an empty netter.

Maybe they just need to tank some more?

They just have to flip a switch and will know how to win....

Well it is, but that would also be the reason why guys like him get $80 mil over 8 years...

They didn't even allow me to self sooth with the, "Oh, what a great effort, they worked so hard and we can respect that, Go Team....blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

No they just shafted us once again with "we were late to the party, Oh and its process, there were some good things to work on......

go sabres...

Post game interviews are usually just garbage. There is nothing any player or coach is going to say to anyone to make them feel better. They are basically loaded questions so that fans can kick them in the teeth after they give the wrong answer.

The way too early observation:

Dahlin looked ordinary.  I actually read someone stating they'd rather have Rasmus than McDavid. Yeesh.

I thought he was our best D... at 18 years old

Defence never look as flashy as forwards, so I don't think he will wow as often

I mean, some people also said Eichel would be better in the NHL because he was a half inch taller and like 5 pounds heavier at draft time. Motivated reasoning is fun!

I expect him to be established as our best D and getting 1st unit PP time by the midpoint in the season. Quite possibly sooner.
