dejeanerret Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/127847/remi-elie 23 years old. 14 points in 72 games last season, his first full one. Interesting move. Nothing on paper that jumps out other than he's young and learning the game. Quote
dudacek Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 Not many players I have zero knowledge of. Here’s one. Quote

dejeanerret Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) from Rotowire: One of a number of young prospects to get their feet wet in the NHL last year on an injury-plagued Stars roster, Elie held his own in a checking-line role over 18 games in Dallas. The 22-year-old lacks the skating and creativity to ever be a real offensive threat, but his effort and compete level should make him a useful energy player down the road, and his hockey IQ will allow him to chip in the occasional big goal as he finds himself in the right place at the right time. Seems to be a young Scott Wilson minus the playoff and SC experience. Probably a guy they'll be able to safely move down to Rochester (that is, if no one else put in a waiver claim for him). Otherwise he could be getting an 8 week audition until Wilson returns and they'll have to make a decision. Edited October 2, 2018 by dejeanerret Quote
Taro T Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 So who gets sent down / IR'd to make room for him? Quote
WildCard Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 @BJWilsonWGR Elie is a bigger guy (6' 1", 215) who can skate and be a nice depth piece on the wing. Had six goals and 14 points in 72 games with DAL last year. Had fun watching him play with McDavid and DeBrincat in Erie during their run in 2015. Definitely like this addition for the #Sabres. Quote
dudacek Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 Fills the Wilson hole. Apparently fast, physical forechecker who was thought to have some upside. Looks like he could fill the bottom six role they were hoping Baptiste might. 1 Quote
thewookie1 Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 Larsson is still day to day so roster wise we are fine presently Quote
nfreeman Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 Possible Larsson replacement, if Larsson is waived? Quote

Seems like he fits the Bots/Housley mold perfectly. Edited October 2, 2018 by dejeanerret 1 Quote

Wonder if Elie gets Girgensons spot on the 4th line Thursday or if he's the healthy F scratch? Quote
That Aud Smell Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 I continue to appreciate JBOT's efforts to improve the team by volume, if nothing else, or, failing that, keep Roch competitive. 2 Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) Dallas gave him a one year extension on July 4th. Must have gotten surprised in camp by Hintz. Bunch of single goal highlights here. Looks speedy, grindy. Got decent usage last year as a call-up-stay-up. Edited October 2, 2018 by IKnowPhysics Quote

Huckleberry Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) I think Zemgus should be worried for his spot now. Or maybe they have a trade for Zemgus lined up. Edited October 2, 2018 by Huckleberry Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 Should we feel bad that Toronto lost 2 goalies to waivers? Quote
woods-racer Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 I remember him in Erie. If the puck was chipped in deep he would go in and scrum around till he dropped and cause as much havoc as possible. More times then not McDavid and Debrincat where finding the puck in great scoring places on the ice from the Elie melee. 1 Quote
Huckleberry Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) Its what the stars fans are saying, good guy, never quits, got speed and is good on the forecheck. Good 4th line LW role energy guy. Isn't going to create much himself , but also won't hurt your team defensively. Makes up a lot with his speed. Edited October 2, 2018 by Huckleberry Quote

That said, Zemgus is a tank team top 6 now trying to fit in on the bottom 6 where a guy like Elie would be a better fit IMO. Quote
woods-racer Posted October 2, 2018 Report Posted October 2, 2018 The most notable attribute I can say I remember is ... He stays on his feet. Won't bowl anyone over or get a clean steal and set up a great pass, but he will stay on his feet and dog-idly skate to retrieve the puck. My memory. What little I have of it. Quote
