bob_sauve28 Posted August 15, 2018 Report Posted August 15, 2018 EDINA, Minn. – No matter if you're a coach, a fan, a teammate – or an internet troll – Zach Bogosian has a message for you. He's ready. He knows you've heard that before. But this time, after hip surgery, he really means it. https://buffalonews.com/2018/08/02/mike-harrington-healthy-bogosian-wants-to-fast-forward-the-summer-and-get-to-camp/ well ok! Quote

Drunkard Posted August 15, 2018 Report Posted August 15, 2018 Let's hope. I'd feel a hell of a lot better about the defense if Bogosian is actually healthy and playing well. The right side is thin with him so if he gets hurt again after 10 games we'll either have to move Dahlin over to his off hand or we're going to be icing minor leaguers on the right side. Quote
LGR4GM Posted August 15, 2018 Report Posted August 15, 2018 Quote Bogosian has played 552 games in his NHL career with Atlanta, Winnipeg and the Sabres – and has yet to appear in the playoffs. Now that Kane hit the postseason last spring for San Jose, Bogosian is up to second in the NHL among active players with no postseason appearances. Only Jeff Skinner (579 games), who has spent his eight-year career with Carolina, has more. Following the Sabres' trade for Skinner on Thursday night, he and Bogosian could break their droughts together. https://buffalonews.com/2018/08/02/mike-harrington-healthy-bogosian-wants-to-fast-forward-the-summer-and-get-to-camp/ So we have the 1st and 2nd place player for most games played without a playoff appearance. erickompositör72 Posted August 15, 2018 Report Posted August 15, 2018 (edited) I've always thought a healthy Bogosian would work really well in our defense corps... But that aside, I've also got the feeling that he's the type of guy we need as far as leadership/locker room presence. We've all been really frustrated with his injury history, but if he can stay healthy- I think he has a great attitude and could be the kind of leader we need to guide the younger players. Thing is, even if the hip was the source of ALL his LBIs, that doesn't account for all his time lost due to UBIs. Still believe it is foolish to be counting on Bogosian to give them 70+ quality games in the top 4. Hopefully, he'll be what Murray expected when he traded for him. Wouldn't want any money on it. He really needs to be on the 3rd pair where he can't get hurt playing too many minutes. Quote

Unfortunately, management seems to be counting on it. Whether that's by design or circumstance, the season in large part still hinges on a guy that dresses 60 times a year & plays well up to 40 times upping both #'s into the 70's. Can it be done? Yes. Will it? That's far more doubtful. 1 Quote

But he'll be pencilled into top 4, maybe even top 2 if they decide to pair Dahlin w/ Scandella. This season has UBI written all over it. Quote

irregularly irregular Posted August 15, 2018 Report Posted August 15, 2018 Let us all hope that Bogo is healthy and productive all season and throughout the playoffs. No matter if he plays well, or poorly, you have to admit that the intensity that the team plays with when he is on the ice is much better than when he is out of the lineup. My hope is that he is really hungry for the playoffs and has learned some lessons about taking care of his body. Bogo providing solid (not spectacular, just solid) play for the entire season would be a huge, and totally unexpected, bonus. 1 Quote
7+6=13 Posted August 15, 2018 Report Posted August 15, 2018 Bogo never said: I'm ready, I know you've heard that before but this time I really mean it. Quote

Not sure I admit to that Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted August 15, 2018 Report Posted August 15, 2018 The problem is even if he's healthy, he still isn't good. Quote
IKnowPhysics Posted August 16, 2018 Report Posted August 16, 2018 That may or may not be the case, but all we need right now is for him to be not terrible. Quote

Not sure I admit to that Okay, you don't HAVE to admit..... To my eyes, on those rare opportunities we get to see Bogo skating for the Sabres, there is a better team on the ice. His presence seems to act as a catalyst. Just what I've noticed. Although it has been so long ago, it is but a fleeting memory. Quote
