Reading an article on what she did I still don't see what exactly happened. It says she used her government position to disparage democrats during television appearances. I think her position is counselor to the president. How does talking bad about another political party while holding that specific job violate the act? Has congress talked about brining this to the floor? Is this the first time someone in her position has ever done this?

Not defending her as I honestly cant seem to wrap my head around it.

So basically, it's illegal to use a federal government position to campaign.  If you're a postal carrier, for example, and you want to support AOC's congressional campaign, you do it on your own time.  You can't wear her campaign button on your uniform.

Conway isn't "talking bad about another political party."  She's campaigning while on the federal payroll and in the guise of her job, after having been warned numerous times since 2016 to cut it out, which is why a Republican special counsel has requested prosecution.

Welp that sucks for her. I’ve said it before. Both sides have some extremely dumb people.

She's high enough up to be untouchable.  She SHOULDN'T be, and no one this high up has ever brazenly flouted this particular law before, but Barr's not going to do anything.  If she were the hypothetical postal carrier, she'd be prosecuted (no matter which side she was campaigning for).  Decades ago, I represented some IRS workers who got in trouble for having pro-Clinton signs at their desks; this was during the Clinton administration.

Good on Trump not moving forward with a strike on the IRGC. That had the potential to go sideways.

This we can agree on.

Yea good on him for not escalating a conflict he has been escalating for years.... this is like giving credit to your dog for crapping on the kitchen tiles instead of the rug, it's better but they still pooped in the house.

I agree Iran is pissed about the nuclear deal but if our drone was actually in their airspace they would have shot it down either way. If it wasn’t in their airspace shooting it down does nothing for them.

I think if Trump wanted war with Iran he would’ve used this incident. Or maybe Iranian influence on insurgent and narcotic operations in Iraq and Afghanistan which impact U.S. personnel.

A presidential military parade,...

jfc.

They straight up stole $2.5 million from the National Parks Service to pay for this nonsense. Trump should have had to pay for this parade from his own pocket.

Interesting that one of the founders of the Freedom Caucus is fed up enough with the direction of the GOP that he is declaring himself now a political independent.

https://reason.com/2019/07/04/justin-amash-declares-independence-from-republican-party/

Quote

"Americans have allowed government officials, under assertions of expediency and party unity, to ignore the most basic tenets of our constitutional order: separation of powers, federalism and the rule of law," Amash wrote. "The result has been the consolidation of political power and the near disintegration of representative democracy."

As a result: "Instead of acting as an independent branch of government and serving as a check on the executive branch, congressional leaders of both parties expect the House and Senate to act in obedience or opposition to the president and their colleagues on a partisan basis."

He reportedly hasn’t paid his inauguration bills, I’m not holding my breath

Seriously, what the actual *****? How can anyone support a guy like this? He's absolute trash. Stable genius, ha! The man is a moron. The biggest threat to our democracy is this nut job making "jokes" about staying in office for 10-14 more years. You know what is un-american? More un-american than flag burning, or kneeling for the anthem? Taking a giant crap all over the US Constitution. Donald Trump is un-american and a dictator wannabe.

I take those things just to provide negative (never rude, just well written dissent) answers. I know their reputation management filters screen it right out/render it useless, so it's my pithy little scream into the void, but oh well. Problem is, engaging with the content floods my various newsfeeds with his balderdash and his followers' horrible commentary.

Tag yourself, I'm Low Energy Democrat (what, I'm tired, it's Friday)

At this point I don't know why, but this morning's tweets by Trump have left me shocked.  Telling 4 black Congresswomen to go back where they came from in a published tweet.

There can't be anyone left that still questions whether or not he is a racist, can there?  I mean, at this point, they might as well own it and embrace the racism, cuz it's out there for everyone to see now.  It's not even subtle or wink, wink, nod, nod anymore.

3 of the 4 women were born in the US and the other was naturalized at the age of 17 after being a refugee from Somalia.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, is a racist and sexist xenophobe who should be impeached immediately.

People voted for him knowing this. For some, it's why they voted for him. He will not be impeached.

Of course.

And yes, he wont be impeached. But not because of the Senate. It's because Nancy Pelosi is a coward.
