TrueBlueGED Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 Looks like those of us who said Botterill was more committed to moving on from ROR than he let on were right. No core pieces at all in that return. I think it's pretty obvious Botterill is planning on this being a longer term rebuild not meant to yield fruitful hockey until Mittelstadt and Dahlin mature. Ugh. I hate wasting more of Jack's prime. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 Change the thread title .....to Sabres fans commit mass acts of vandalism at KBC? Quote
jahnyc Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 This is awful. Taking on long-term salary from under performers and not getting a true prospect back. JBot is in over his head and just wasted one of our only real assets. Quote
LGR4GM Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 Thompson isn't a fast scoring winger and I don't want Berglund for 4 years. Quote
inkman Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 This is an embarrassment. Botterill got raked over the coals... And he paid the bonus? I guess it's lose for Hughs. Quote
LTS Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 (edited) Like I said elsewhere.... If you think it's underwhelming then expect that ROR was a bigger problem than thought. I don't hate the trade. It just fattened up the offense and made others potentially expendable. It might not be top overall talent, but that's 3 forwards and 2 picks for the price of 1 forward. Oh, and... this is just day 1... Edited July 2, 2018 by LTS Quote

SDS Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 So far, every single person in twitter disagrees with these takes. Quote
ubkev Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 NHL 18 just accepted the trade. Means we lost...lol Quote

bob_sauve28 Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 Wow, they must have really wanted to get rid of ROR Quote
dudacek Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 (edited) Well, it certainly will address some of our depth issues. All three of those roster players are real NHLers. And it certainly changes the room. So, mission accomplished JBot, I guess...? ???? Edited July 2, 2018 by dudacek Quote
Hoss Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 So far, every single person in twitter disagrees with these takes. Indeed. I’m torn because I’m not a believer in Tage Thompson, but the overall value of what they got is certainly significant. Quote

ubkev Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 So, lines? And I don't mean sabres lines... Quote
Robviously Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 I called it though... This is more about culture. Yes. This pretty much confirms that ROR was a problem in the room. Tage Thompson is the right age to help us this year and to be part of the team for a while. Berglund is good short term help at C. Sobotka, who knows? Hopefully we flip either SJ or STL's 1st for more help in the near term. Quote
dudacek Posted July 2, 2018 Report Posted July 2, 2018 In a space of a few months, Botterill has completely demolished the Murray Sabres. Quote
