Not sure if I'm having a stroke or if all the drugs have finally caught up with me but the feed from Laval looks other worldly. Camera in a weird spot, lighting strange, ice looks clear. Just bizarre.

Call up Nylander, he's earned a look.

That or trade him as part of a larger package for Tarasenko or Duchene.

Or leave him where he is and see if he can find some consistentency before calling him up.

His growth this season has been remarkable

You are being waaaaaaay too one-track minded here.

....pigeonholing his development path and our options.

But I salute you on taking a firm stance.

Do something, the status quo isn't working.

I would bring nylander up. Felt he should have been on the roster from the start of the season. But my feeling now is Botts will see out the season with what we have and make changes again in the summer.

I expect call ups after the All-Star break.   Nylander first, then Aslpund maybe Olofsson for the last dozen games or so.  Maybe even guys like Malone who they seem to be developing into a checking type center might help the bottom 6... But not until late in the season if the playoffs are out of reach.

Nylander just starting to show signs of consistency in his career.

Malone 1G+5A in his last 17 games

Asplund 1G+6A in his last 19 games

Rochester callups aren't fixing anything.

Malone may be ready as scoring will never be his forte but Asplund has miles to go. He looks so slight, I'm afraid he get snapped in half by NHL players.

There's many other reasons besides scoring for a call-up.

Asplund and Malone are filling roles and its not as top 6 offensive players.

What role are these two better at than anyone wearing a s=Sabres sweater already?

They're not, nobody said they were.

If they aren’t improving something that is already on the roster, what is the point of calling them up?

People are still thinking call-ups are going to save us?

How has calling up Pilut, Smith and Guhle looked so far?

Pilut has helped.  The others not so much.  The only one who might help is Olofsson.

I think it may be time to bring back the “Jbot Do Something Already” Thread.

Agreed. Pilut has proved his worth since his call up.  A recent analysis on Sabres D-men below.   My eye test says the same.    For those who believe you must have a pick, player and a prospect to get something in return, Pilut may make Scandella and Guehle expendable come trade deadline.

I would also add that Smith has not been great but better than Elie in a much smaller sample size.   So not a complete washout.

If you read my post I suggested calling those guys up at the very tailend of the season if playoffs are out of reach.  Give Asplund a taste so he knows what to expect.... Part if the development process.

I did read it.  The context wasn't obvious.  The post fell in a conversation about calling kids up to change team performance.

Ugh.  I don't want to think about the possibility of yet another lost season....

Amerks beat Marlies 5-1.  CJ Smith with the Hattie. Olofsson a goal, Nylander, Asplund and Wilson with helpers.

Missed a few in a row now Ink. Bought that AHLTV package for the season (thanks for that by the way, I have enjoyed it).

Are the Marlies drained talent wise from Toronto or did the Amerks just steam roll them?

I think the Marlies just whooped the Amerks yesterday. This was the payback.
