In order to argue, or discuss, you have to first offer an opinion or your personal viewpoint. You have done neither. So there is no argument/discussion. I made a point about a particular forward for the other team I root for (because I lived there for 22 years) and you didn't like it. You only chose to trash me and tell me to ***** off.

If that's your idea of an argument/discussion........ perhaps you don't belong here because we discuss things and offer opinions. It seems as though you just want to attack me. Pretty childish, if you ask me.

Root for whoever you want to root for. Ask for an allowance from fans of a team you “root for” apparently less (though we both know how this works, in a knife fight or elimination game you’re not a Sabres fan), well.  Then.  We have a problem.

There are fans of other teams on this board, but they declare an interest and go on with it. You don’t.  You don’t think you have to.  You think tossing lines out about how you us d to be a Sabres Fan qualifies you to pass comment on anything having to do with this team when in fact you’re actively a fan of another team.  Good for you... be a Panthers fan.  Just do it elsewhere.  Or admit you’re not a Sabres fan, stay here and be treated accordingly.

I've been a Sabres fan since I was like 8. I know way more about the Sabres than the vast majority of fans. I know the past, I know the present and I know who is coming up through the ranks.

I lived 18 years in Buffalo, then 22 years in South Florida, so go ahead and chastise me for following a 2nd team. The Sabres will always be my first team. I know that doesn't follow your narrative, but you'll get over it.

Eichel's ceiling might be high, but we have yet to see it. It's not my fault you don't watch other games to see what other players have to offer. In the last two years, Trochek has 54 goals and 130 points which puts him slightly under Eichel in the PPG average department, but he has intangibles that Eichel doesn't have. He is the younger version of Marchand. He hits, he pushes people around, he gets under their skin and he acts like a leader. Eichel doesn't have that yet. I'll take the intangibles and a slightly lower PPG average over what Eichel has right now any day. I'm sorry you see it as a Panthers fandom. I was just creating discussion because Trochek is rarely talked about and may be one of the most underrated players in the league.

Last I checked this was a 'Around the NHL' thread which means anything other than the Sabres. If you don't like it, move on. Grow up, act like an adult.

You're hoping to win an argument I'm not having with you whilst ignoring the the thing I'm trying to drill home. You win. This is the last I'll comment on your hilariously disingenuous "fandom."  Peace.

JJ is too. He’s been posting here for a long time and is a Sabres backer. Times have been tough for the team for a long time, but he’s still here.

Mmmmmm.. not buying it. He's been here a long time, but having read his posts for the past half-decade or so, it's apparent dude is a Panthers fan.  I doubt he'll even deny it if pressed.   He comes here because there are literally no other Panthers fans.  Which is fine, but declare your interest.  All I ask.

You obviously haven't read most of my posts. I'm not going to let you get on my nerves, I came back here for serious discussions and no arguments. You're just helping to ruin that, just go away.

If that’s even true, I won’t fault anyone for rooting for another team during our long lull.

It is the team that is always in your heart that matters. Since the Sabres haven’t been to the playoffs since 1901, I’ve chosen a team every year to pull for in the playoffs. I love the Sabres but I also love hockey.

I don't understand why you would quit on a team if they're bad.   That's just part of being a fan, you take the good with the bad.   There's more to discuss when they're losing.

Do you guys see what's happening here?  I'm agreeing with pi.  The apocalypse can not be far behind.

Okay, JJ. wins, along with @Andrew Amerk.  Let's all of us pick up other teams who might do better because come on, we can't expext the Sabres to do well.  Nor can we behave like adults when the thing we thought was coming came.

Don't be condescending. I only follow a 2nd team because they were my local team for 22 years. It's tough not to follow them when they are 15 minutes down the street.

I'm sorry you're offended that I follow two teams. If me following two teams offends you, somebody you don't even know personally, you need help.

The Sabres will always be my team, but I'm not the only person that follows the rest of the league when the Sabres have nothing entertaining to offer.

I don’t “follow another team.” I said that I choose other teams to root for in the playoffs when the Sabres aren’t in it, because I’m a hockey fan.

Seriously, what’s wrong with you tonight?

I came back to this forum with a different attitude and an open mind to keep from getting into arguments like what used to happen. I guess it wasn't me after all.

It's no wonder nobody new joins this forum.

You cant come on here stating Sabres stink then advocating switching teams.  Its fine if you enjoy another team’s play or even a particular player.  But by switching teams you lose your card to criticize the Sabres.  It smacks of bandwagoneering and front ruunning. No one here is gonna tolerate that. If you don’t get that then dont let the door hit you.  If you want to analyze actually talents that is fine, bad mouthing Sabres you can no longer do.  You lost your licence.

Questioning fanhood and suggesting posters go away because they fan differently than you do is stupid.

Its also childish.  And I know a thing or four about being childish.

Fanning differently, or an active Quisling fifth-columnist here to get the exact rise out of us that he got out of me last night?  I chomped  down hard on the bait, but man it’s slightly more annoying than Yuri.

Over it, apologies to all for my intemperance.

There were people I saw out of line last night, but JJ wasn't one of them.

The way I see it, there are a lot of people angry about the Sabres performance. So angry that when a guy they see as only a partial fan makes a suggestion it makes them feel better by attacking him. The classic, "Hey, only I get to question Eichel's value to the team because I am a real fan." syndrome.

There are threads about Eichel and what he is as a player all over this place. Seemingly each GDT has questions of whether he's a good fit.  But JJ hops in and suggests a trade for a player who has done more for his team than Eichel has for his and people begin losing their mind?

Perhaps some reflection is needed...

So... it's early, but Eichel is 137th in the league in points per game, after finishing 37th last year. The 137 would look somewhat better if you strip out a few players above him who have a point in one game (same idea for last year), but still... top offensive players have been lighting it up. Where's Jack?

Dude, there has to be a Panthers forum you could join... oh wait, right.  You’re a solid 1/3 of the fan base.

I think that this is a bit out of line.

I think you are right.  There is a certain click here, but you would likely find very similar situations on any fan forum.

Yuri drives by every now and then, but it seems that even that is unlikely from now on.
