Unless your contention is that the player wasn't injured and therefore it wasn't a dangerous hit, which would be preposterously poor reasoning. It was probably illegal, but it wasn't dangerous. I've seen legal hits that were way more dangerous. Like, every single McCabe hit.
WildCard Posted December 1, 2018 Author Report Posted December 1, 2018 The Nylander deadline has passed and with it Dubas has failed his first test
Scottysabres Posted December 1, 2018 Report Posted December 1, 2018 Bob McKenzie reporting Nylander signed, 6 yrs x 6.9 mil. With Mathews and Marner due up this July, It looks like Toronto could have 45% + of their cap tied up in 4 players. Wow, just wow.

Assquatch Posted December 1, 2018 Report Posted December 1, 2018 Nylander being reported done at 6x6.9M Dreger, McKenzie, Friedman

darksabre Posted December 1, 2018 Report Posted December 1, 2018 I look forward to some Eastern conference GMs colluding to screw Toronto this summer. 2
Sabel79 Posted December 1, 2018 Report Posted December 1, 2018 That's a... nice contract. I'll get my coat.
Randall Flagg Posted December 1, 2018 Report Posted December 1, 2018 Just now, darksabre said: I look forward to some Eastern conference GMs colluding to screw Toronto this summer. Max offersheet to Matthews followed by a big one to Marner would just make my day. Also, I'm very ignorant about contracts and cap stuff. But how was 6x6.9 not agreed to, like, months ago? That's completely reasonable for both..

darksabre Posted December 1, 2018 Report Posted December 1, 2018 Is it possible Toronto ends up trading him anyway? That deal is pretty attractive.
dudacek Posted December 1, 2018 Report Posted December 1, 2018 Cap question: would you rather have one Willie Nylander or two Sam Reinharts?

I think that's quite a bit more likely than offer sheets screwing them. But really I expect they let Gardiner walk, find a taker for Marleau, and just top-load their roster.

Is Nylander going to have a Marner-like step forward this year? Before this season, they were statistical twins. If Nylander takes that kind of jump, I'd rather have one of him.
Hoss Posted December 1, 2018 Report Posted December 1, 2018 I would give eight of my ten fingers to beat Toronto in the first round
Brawndo Posted December 1, 2018 Report Posted December 1, 2018 Right now they have 23 Million in Cap Space and 12 contracts signed. Kapanen, Kadri and Nylander are the ones most likely to be moved.

Scottysabres Posted December 2, 2018 Report Posted December 2, 2018 Toronto is looking unstoppable at this point. Obviously we'll know more after the Mathews and Marner situations get resolved this off season, but as of now, I have Toronto rated the best team in the league. And that takes in to consideration Pittsburgh, Washington and Tampa Bay. Toronto's young and just completely front end loaded. With Reilly starting to break through on defense I say they are on the cusp of a Dynasty IMO.
