GoPuckYourself
I've always been a big fan of Kovalchuck, he's a hard worker, a goal scorer and seems like a decent dude from what I read. Many people think he abandoned the Devils but he was offered around the same money to play closer to home, can't say I fault anyone for that. Any possible way he'd want to come here and play with the youngins? Is he strickly going to play for a Stanley Cup caliber team? Would we have the cap to sign him? All I know is that he'd be an upgrade to Kane imo. What do you guys think?
Huckleberry
Nope, he is going to the Islanders.

No, I'd say that I hope he somehow cons a multi-year contract out of Boston or Toronto and then quickly bails on them, sticking them with the cap hit. There's no escape this time other than LTIR. So that's why he needs to bail on them.
Doohicksie
James Neal I'd love to have him, but you wouldn't call him and "ageless vet." He's still a star in his prime.
Iron Crotch
This seems to be a non-starter. If a 35 year old Kovalchuk comes back to the NHL, unless he is desparate for money, there is no way he'd choose the worst team in the league as his destination. sabills
I feel like the Kovalchuck lottery is a little less Mega Millions and a little more Shirley Jackson. Also, this is what google wants to correct Kovalchuck to: Edited May 31, 2018 by sabills

mjd1001
Hopefully the Sabres have no interest in him at all. I really don't want a 35 year old winger on this team.
SwampD
I'm really not a fan of Barstool Sports. There's a big difference between satire and being a bunch of smug Boston douches.

SwampD
Yeah I'm not real keen on them but I thought the piece was fitting I always liked Kovy and thought his rep wasn't fair. He always killed the Sabres, anyway. He does have 19 pts in 23 playoff games and gone to a SCF since we've been to the playoffs. He's only 35 and hands don't age like feet. If the price was right, i'd take him on the Sabres. Plus, he's what started the whole "there's just no place on the Sabres for a 40 goal scorer." We need closure.
