LGR4GM Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Mike Weber just talked to wgr about Dahlin. Kids generational. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 I just watched a blip on YouTube where the sport center guys were saying that Dahlin is a best fit in Edmonton...... Seriously!?!? Quote
Derrico Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Hey Liger, any chance you could link the audio of the Webber interview? Quote
LGR4GM Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 As soon as WGR loads it up. Might be another 30min WGR 550Verified account @WGR550 20m20 minutes agoMore Weber - I talked to Bogosian and he asked me if he's the real deal. Dahlin is a great locker room guy. He's really funny, and his work ethic is contagious. This is real. The guys are extremely excited about this kid. #Sabres Quote
LGR4GM Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Gentleman and a scholar. Thanks Liger. Here ya go: Weber on Dahlin http://www.wgr550.com/media/audio-channel/05-04-former-sabres-defenseman-mike-weber-howard-and-jeremy-rasmus-dahlin Quote
inkman Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 I just watched a blip on YouTube where the sport center guys were saying that Dahlin is a best fit in Edmonton...... Seriously!?!? Cool they'll trade us McDavid for him, right? Quote
LGR4GM Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Cool they'll trade us McDavid for him, right? Connor McDavid is the only player on the Oilers I would trade Dahlin for. Yes, I think that highly of Rasmus Dahlin. Quote
inkman Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Connor McDavid is the only player on the Oilers I would trade Dahlin for. Yes, I think that highly of Rasmus Dahlin. I was waiting for the "that's not enough" or "I wouldn't do that trade" posts. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 I was waiting for the "that's not enough" or "I wouldn't do that trade" posts. Followed closely by Oilers fan counter-proposals of Lucic and a 2nd for #1. Quote

Said Buffalo is cool and he likes chicken wings +10 for not saying "Buffalo Wings" and there was no moention of Ranch either. I think Dahlin will be fine Quote
Stoner Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Mike Weber just talked to wgr about Dahlin. Kids generational. Well, that settles that. Now let's work on his bust. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Well, that settles that. Now let's work on his bust. Isn't there a parade in the thistle patch you could go rain on instead? Quote
Stoner Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Isn't there a parade in the thistle patch you could go rain on instead? This is my patch. Fine. He's generational. He'll go into the Hall as a Sabre and not a Ranger. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 This is my patch. Fine. He's generational. He'll go into the Hall as a Sabre and not a Ranger. A generational prospect, you mope. Quote
Derrico Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 I've been burned by prospects before. But it's hard to contain the hype. Great Weber interview. Quote
LGR4GM Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 A generational prospect, you mope. Rasmus Dahlin is a generational prospect. There has not been a defensive prospect like him maybe ever. I cannot stress enough how great of a prospect he is. Skill, speed, work ethic. Quote
ubkev Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Would not trade Dahlin for McDavid.. Are high as giraffe balls.. Quote
dudacek Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 (edited) I fell into the camp of those who mostly ignored the draft this year, particularly Dahlin because I felt 18 per cent wasn’t worth getting my hopes up for. In the past week I’ve read and watched everything I could get my hands on. Elite skating, passing, stick-handling and hockey sense. Big enough, likes physical play, defensively responsible, coachable, liked by teammates, extremely competitive, and addicted to hockey. Adequate shot. If this kid played in Oshawa we’d be sick to death of the hype. He is at least as good a prospect as Eichel. Edited May 4, 2018 by dudacek Quote
That Aud Smell Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 ^ Good stuff. I get the sense that he and Eichel are/were about even as prospects go (with an edge to Dahlin, I think), but it probably seems that close because Eichel plays the pivot. I'm frickin' pumped. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted May 4, 2018 Author Report Posted May 4, 2018 The skating is a huge plus. The passing and the shot are huge pluses. The spatial awareness and understanding of what is going to happen next, which he exhibits at the point and in the slot, is something I've never seen from an NHL player. I'm not saying he's Gretzky, but I imagine that that is the trait that made Gretzky stand out. Quote

I'm not saying he's Gretzky, but I imagine that that is the trait that made Gretzky stand out. I haven't studied Dahlin much, but all of what made Gretzky great was the spatial awareness and ability to be ahead of the play in his brain. That's it. He didn't have the skating. He had the passing. The shot wasn't a cannon. Dude was tiny and not all that strong. If, and I mean it's a big IF, you're correct and Dahlin possesses all of the above... yikes. Still, it's a bit much right now... I keep telling myself. Quote

I don’t want to pull out the Bobby Orr card because no one is Orr. But he resembles Orr more than any player I have seen since. We’ll see how he adjusts. He’s 17. But I firmly believe his floor is Brian Leetch, and I will be surprised if he doesn’t pass Karlsson. Quote
