Randall Flagg Posted May 4, 2018 Author Report Posted May 4, 2018 I haven't studied Dahlin much, but all of what made Gretzky great was the spatial awareness and ability to be ahead of the play in his brain. That's it. He didn't have the skating. He had the passing. The shot wasn't a cannon. Dude was tiny and not all that strong. If, and I mean it's a big IF, you're correct and Dahlin possesses all of the above... yikes. Still, it's a bit much right now... I keep telling myself. I guarantee he doesn't have it to Gretzky's level and don't want to come off as suggesting it, but that thing is Dahlin's most impressive trait. And it's uniquely used by him as a defenseman. Quote

Randall Flagg Posted May 4, 2018 Author Report Posted May 4, 2018 Other notes - Dahlin at 17 had the same number of points as Anze Kopitar did in the same league at age 18, in fewer games played. (Kopitar stepped in and scored 61 points for the Kings the next season.) Dahlin is fifth in points per game for players 18 and under in SHL history, as a defenseman. Quote

Not sure where you found that info but according to this http://www.quanthockey.com/shl/en/player-age/18-year-old-shl-players.html he would be something lower then 5th Edited May 4, 2018 by Skurk Liger Quote

nfreeman Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 This. He seems to have all of Jack’s physical skills, but adds in the elite mental game. I don’t want to pull out the Bobby Orr card because no one is Orr. But he resembles Orr more than any player I have seen since. We’ll see how he adjusts. He’s 17. But I firmly believe his floor is Brian Leetch, and I will be surprised if he doesn’t pass Karlsson. Dude. How are we supposed to sleep for the next 5 months? (OTOH, maybe he is The One. Those videos sure make it seem like a distinct possibility.) Quote
WildCard Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Connor McDavid is the only player on the Oilers I would trade Dahlin for. Yes, I think that highly of Rasmus Dahlin. Same. I also think it's incredibly valuable to have 2 elite young talents like this at such different positions. Malkin/Crosby, Toews/Kane, Bergeron/Marchand...when was the last time you saw a Center/D-man in this combination? Kopitar/Doughty? Quote
JujuFish Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Hmm, I confess to not checking what I thought was a reliable source - but maybe the stat was 17 year olds? From that same website, for 17 year olds: http://www.quanthockey.com/shl/en/player-age/17-year-old-shl-players.html Quote

He's 5th on that list in points per game.Peter Forsberg and Naslund were above him. The Sedins well below. Quote
WildCard Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Wonder where Dahlin lives for his first year here. Apparently having Nylander with COR ruined him, so hopefully they just put him up with Eichel or something Quote

WildCard Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Stamkos/ Hedman? Good point, forgot about them. That might be our best comparison; Kopitar is really nothing like Eichel Quote
Stoner Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 Bring Nick Lidstrom in as an advisor or scout. :) Nice. Does anyone have any confidence that Kim or Terry Pegula would have such a thought? I'm serious. BTW I put Kim's name first because I don't want to get Friedmanned. Moulson was good for Eich ... Remember the frozen Snickers in that freezer in the Beyond Blue and Gold episode? I also noticed lots and lots of Doritos. Quote

Brawndo Posted May 5, 2018 Report Posted May 5, 2018 Patrik Laine’s Mother moved to Winnipeg with him, this might be a great arrangement for Rasmus if feasible. Or Linus Ullmark might be a good situation for him. Speaks his native language and has a calm demeanor on the ice and in the room. Quote

Jack's face also got noticeably clearer after he moved into his own house. Can I make a request that this line of petty nonsense stop? There are a lot of kids who traumatized by acne when they are younger and do not have Eichel like status to overcome it. They are going read this and it's going to bother them, even if they are no longer kids. I know, I was one of them. ANSWER. for where Rasmus spends his first year. That's with MODO... because MODO's coming back and he's bring some pannys and hockey players with him! Quote
