LGR4GM Posted April 29, 2018 Report Posted April 29, 2018 I don’t assume Botts would pick the playmaker Svechnikov at 2nd. He might trade down and take a goal scorer or defenseman, and also get a roster player in return. He had like 40g in 44 gamesIs Dahlin that much better than the rest for me to care?Yes Quote
Ogre Posted April 29, 2018 Report Posted April 29, 2018 ###### the hockey gods. We're winning. Let’s just all the gods and create our own race of demigods......oh wait. Vegas beat us to it. Quote

Randall Flagg Posted April 29, 2018 Author Report Posted April 29, 2018 (edited) Is Dahlin that much better than the rest for me to care? I would say so. It's not enough to be devastated at pick 3, but he's likely an Eichel-tier prospect, whereas you can't come close to saying that about pick 3, as there are a bunch of guys that could be the guy there. I'm not guaranteeing anything or saying that you should be devastated if we pick third, but with what we have right now, if you're interested in who the Sabres draft, it would be legitimately exciting to get first. Iron Crotch Posted April 29, 2018 Report Posted April 29, 2018 Is Dahlin that much better than the rest for me to care? Dahlin is a 10-foot tall beast man who showers in Vodka and feeds his baby Shrimp Scampi... Quote
CallawaySabres Posted April 29, 2018 Report Posted April 29, 2018 We absolutely have to win it this time, we are getting Dahlin The way I saw it was a big drop in talent from 3 to four, minor drop from 3 to 2 and potential hall of Famer at 1....probably a lock. Quote

There is no such thing as a hall of fame lock at this point in a player's career. Quote

Not sure where this view has originated from. He will be taken at #2 by whichever team is lucky enough to get him Quote
Iron Crotch Posted April 29, 2018 Report Posted April 29, 2018 We'll get a really good player in either spot #1 or spot #2. ...I just think we need a top defenseman more than we need a top forward. Quote
Crusader1969 Posted April 29, 2018 Report Posted April 29, 2018 Just saw that CBC is 6 seconds ahead of NBC. I'll try not to cheer too loud if the Sabres win the lottery and ruin the suspense for everyone south of the border Quote

StuckinFL Posted April 29, 2018 Report Posted April 29, 2018 I'm legit excited. Ugh, I can't wait to be this excited watching games... Quote
pastajoe Posted April 29, 2018 Report Posted April 29, 2018 I heard the guy on GR call Svechnikov a playmaker as well. Not sure where this view has originated from. He will be taken at #2 by whichever team is lucky enough to get him Svechnikov is an all around player, but if the team wants a pure goal scorer like Laine to put on Eichel’s wing, Zadina is that player. Or there’s a couple of other quality Ds. So getting 2nd could give the option to Botts of trading down and getting 2 quality players, a pick and a traded player. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted April 29, 2018 Author Report Posted April 29, 2018 When do they announce the top 3? During the intermission. There are about 5 minutes left in the period. Quote
ExWNYer Posted April 29, 2018 Report Posted April 29, 2018 Svechnikov is a goal scorer, from what I’ve heard. - - - If Montreal wins, that’s 2 of last 3 first overalls in division. The 'Hockey Gods' have to come thru for the Sabres this time. Watching either the Habs or 'Canes win this thing would be like somebody asking if you'd rather be shot or stabbed. Quote
Iron Crotch Posted April 29, 2018 Report Posted April 29, 2018 Ack. ...Just want the period to end and we keep getting stoppages. :( Quote

And a left shot sniper at wing is exactly what we need too. I’ll be satisfied with 2. Quote
dudacek Posted April 29, 2018 Report Posted April 29, 2018 You know what? Sorry Randall. I don't buy any of that. I am going to flip a coin. Heads, Munreal. Tails, Canes. Upright, Sabres. This. And Randall’s science has made me nervous. Quote
bob_sauve28 Posted April 29, 2018 Report Posted April 29, 2018 Y'all ready??? Where would rather be than right here, right now?? Quote
Randall Flagg Posted April 29, 2018 Author Report Posted April 29, 2018 Just remember, the worst case scenario is still better than what was most likely, and is still a good thing. Quote
