darksabre Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 Rip sucks, so he'll probably be like "you want 59?" Quote
That Aud Smell Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 It will be a goofy ass NASCAR number, for sure. I'll guess 53. Rip sucks, so he'll probably be like "you want 59?" Schaller! Quote
dudacek Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 11. Twitter reporting crews were hauling it down from the rafters this afternoon. Bert will be in town Thursday for a special ceremony handing it over. Quote

MattPie Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 I thought we covered this already somewhere. Quote
Taro T Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 Rip sucks, so he'll probably be like "you want 59?" Pretty sure Botterill put Simonek on a pretty short leash regarding #'s. Since 11 & 21 aren't available, my guess is 12. Quote

Sabres Fan in NS Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 I thought 20 20 is taken already. I think Taro nailed it with 12. I was really hoping for the first triple digit 'Rip Special'. Quote
DarthEbriate Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 Docking bay 94. 94. Good number for docking bays. Bad number for playmakers. Quote
Stoner Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 (edited) So is this really true, Rip issuing numbers? Or is it an urban legend. I suppose it's true, and it goes to my longstanding point about a sort of "deep state" surrounding the Sabres. The whole coterie of people who can never be fired, who continue to poison the well of Sabres hockey, needs to go. The medical staff, the trainers, the equipment guys, media relations, alumni, broadcasters — president after president, they are immovable. (A few have come and gone, sure. Most have remained. Imagine Larry Playfair and Danny Gare and Rob regaling the kids with woeful tales of past defeats.) Edited March 26, 2018 by PASabreFan Quote

Imagine Larry Playfair and Danny Gare and Rob regaling the kids with woeful tales of past defeats.)Even if true, doesn't it tell us that Rip may be the best talent evaluator the Sabres have? While I think the idea of "good" and "bad" hockey numbers as being ridiculous, I know that enough people care about it for it to be a thing. With that said, when has Rip ever issued a bad number to someone who was worth squirt? And conversely, all the somewhat decent players we have had, have had those"good" numbers. Quote
SwampD Posted March 26, 2018 Report Posted March 26, 2018 (edited) Weber had 6. Good lord. Zagrapan is like an urban legend around here and he is only 31 years old. Edited March 27, 2018 by SwampD Quote
Winston Posted March 27, 2018 Report Posted March 27, 2018 If it weren't for Nolan wearing 17, maybe Casey would follow Jack's lead and wear his draft year number. Then we could retire 14 all the way through 18 some day ;) Quote
Taro T Posted March 27, 2018 Report Posted March 27, 2018 18 Why are people predicting he'll wear #'s that are unavailable? 20 - Wilson 18 - Gare He ISN'T wearing 2, 7, 11, 14, 16, 18, nor 39. Not even SHK nor NRK either. ;) Quote
