Brawndo Posted March 9, 2018 Report Posted March 9, 2018 From the Podcast:The Sabres Rebuild is bigger than Botterill could have imagined. There is dysfunction at every level of the organization. They tried to create a trade market for Kane and Lehner and they were unable to do it. Internally the organization does not feel that Ullmark is ready to shoulder a full season’s worth of work and is he still is a year away. They wonder if he goes back to Rochester and if they need to bite the bullet and sign Lehner for one more year Which players have Trade Value as the team, with the exception of Eichel is slow, Marek compared to a team built for 15 years ago. Reinhart, Alex Nylander (who some in the org. wonder if he will ever play 100 games in the NHL) Risto has trade value in Friedman’s Eyes Re Mittelstadt, Friedman stated he may wait until the summer to decide his future, they mentioned he is super talented but his deciding factor will be Rochester vs Minnesota. The Sabres will probably have a full court press to get him to turn pro, but if they want him in Rochester to start he may want to return to Minnesota Friedman mentioned they haven’t played hard in general and it’s noticeable. Friedman mentioned he has a soft spot for the Buffalo Sabres, he used to attend Sabres Games in College. Called Buffalo a Great Sports Town, a Great NHL City and out of any fanbase we have the most reasons to be mad. Understatement of the decade there. They started by talking about the Top 3 Teams in the draft making the playoffs this year and both agreed the Sabres are not making the next season either Quote

WildCard Posted March 9, 2018 Report Posted March 9, 2018 They started by talking about the Top 3 Teams in the draft making the playoffs this year and both agreed the Sabres are not making the next season either There's no way we're even close to the playoffs next year. Lock us in for another top 5 pick right now. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted March 9, 2018 Report Posted March 9, 2018 Is Friedman telling us anything that all of us don't already know? JBOT has a lot to do to get this team someplace other than the bottom of the league. Quote
bunomatic Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 Disfunction clearly starts at the top. The rest of it we were already aware of. They are what they are. I hope JBot is capable. Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 I’m going to be an optimist. These guys said no way Colorado turns it around in a year, and they pencilled in Edm in the conference finals. The Sabres have serious work to do. If Jbot goes young as I expect him to do, then the odds are we won’t make the playoffs but young teams who hang around early in the year, tend to improve as the season progresses and could very well make a surprise run to a playoff spot. Right now we are seeing a young, injury riddled team play well against some of the best in the league. 5 wins against Bos, TB and Tor plus a so loss to LV. Half this team right now are guys who should be in the AHL, but they are playing some of the best hockey we have seen all season. Go young, add speed and see what happens. Make it fun and let the chips fall where the may. Quote
